eDreams ODIGEO is seeking a Backend Architect to lead the technical evolution of one or more backend microservices and mentor senior engineers. You will collaborate with multiple teams across a large e-commerce platform serving millions of users daily and work closely with product and business stakeholders to shape technical strategy.

You will leverage Java, microservices, cloud architectures and AI-enabled tooling to deliver scalable, performant systems across 40+ countries.

Formación

• 8+ years of backend development experience in Java.
• Experience designing and maintaining microservices architectures.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor and lead senior engineers and collaborate with architects.

• Drive technical evolution of backend microservices within the platform.
• Be the go-to person for engineering on coding, design, and tooling questions.

• Support business and product in scoping ideas from backlogs.

We are looking for a backend architect to join the architecture team in charge of our systems. Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will be expected to provide technical solutions to satisfy our business needs and to collaborate with development teams, business, product and other architects.

What you will do:

The Role’s Key Responsibilities

• Drive the technical evolution of one or more backend microservices in our platform
• Be the go-to person for lead engineers and senior developers for all questions regarding coding, design and tools
• Collaborate with multiple teams (~30 developers)
• Help business and product in scoping and phasing ideas already in their backlogs
• Contribute ideas to backlogs to help business and product teams with their challenges
• Mentor lead and senior engineers in their technical growth
• Work with other architects in cross-team, company-level technical initiatives

What you need to succeed:

• 8+ years of backend development experience in Java
• Software coding, design patterns, architecture and performance engineering
• Communication with both technical and non-technical people
• Assertiveness and influencing: able to get your point across and challenge those of others in a calm and positive manner

Nice to have

• BS in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Experience designing microservices
• Experience in other languages and platforms (e.g., JavaScript, Groovy, Swift)
• Experience with machine learning systems
• Experience in big multi-language/country ecommerce websites
• Experience in the travel sector

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Applied AI Tools: Demonstrated comfort using practical AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other AI-powered coding assistants.
• Experimentation Mindset: Curiosity and eagerness to explore, experiment with, and integrate emerging AI-driven solutions into software development workflows.
• AI-Enhanced Problem Solving: Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to debug code, streamline development processes, and enhance productivity.
• Adaptability and Learning Agility: Enthusiastic about continuously learning and quickly adapting to new AI features and capabilities.
• Collaboration with AI: Experience or interest in collaborating closely with AI tools as “pair programmers” to complement traditional software development practices.
