Job summary

Rhenus Logistics is seeking a finance professional to partner with the Overland Transport IT organization. You will monitor IT cost centers, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support cost transparency across IT spend including personnel, licences, development, and projects.

You will collaborate with country organizations to improve cost visibility and help shape costing models and management reporting for IT services. English fluency and a structured, proactive mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration or Informatics, or a comparable discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, or a comparable finance role; IT/Logistics experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost-centre accounting.
• Experience in project controlling, business cases, service/product costing, or IT expenditure management.
• Understanding of financial accounting, statements, and capitalization principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with ability to translate data into actions.
• Advanced Excel; SAP and Power BI experience desirable.
• Ability to work with finance and non-finance stakeholders and explain financial matters clearly.
• Structured, independent, hands-on approach with attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset; business-fluent English; German or another European language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Overland Controlling partner for the Overland Transport IT organization.
• Monthly monitoring of IT cost centers: planning, forecasting, reporting, variance analysis.
• Support transparent IT cost structure across personnel, licences, dev, and projects.
• Monitor IT project budgets, business cases, and KPIs for decision-making.
• Ensure IT purchases are approved, recorded, and traced with supplier costs.
• Prepare reports and decision papers for IT management and Controlling team.
• Collaborate with country orgs to increase IT cost transparency.
• Help establish service/product costing for IT solutions.
• Contribute to the financial steering model: cost recovery, unit-cost analysis, reporting.
• Improve controlling standards, reporting, and tools with IT organization.

What You Can Expect :

• Act as the Overland Controlling partner for our Overland Transport IT organization, working closely with IT management, operational stakeholders, and international country organizations.
• Take responsibility for the monthly monitoring of IT cost centers, including planning, forecasting, actual reporting, variance analysis, and the follow-up of appropriate actions with budget owners.
• Support the development and maintenance of a transparent controlling structure for IT costs, covering areas such as personnel, licences, development, consulting, projects, and other IT-related expenditures.
• Monitor IT project budgets, business cases, planned savings, and relevant productivity KPIs, providing management with a reliable basis for decision-making.
• Help ensure that IT purchases are properly approved, assigned, and recorded, while maintaining transparency over key suppliers, contracts, and cost responsibilities.
• Prepare meaningful reports, analyses, and decision papers for IT management and the Overland Controlling team, while providing financial support in regular steering and review meetings.
• Collaborate with country organizations to increase transparency regarding IT costs.
• As the IT organization develops, help establish service and product costing for IT solutions and contribute to the design of sustainable pricing and charging models.
• Contribute to the further development of the financial steering model for an internal IT service organization, including cost recovery, unit-cost analysis, resource utilization, and management reporting.
• Continuously improve controlling standards, reporting processes, and analytical tools in close cooperation with the Overland Controlling team and the IT organization.

What You Bring:

• A degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration or Informatics, or a comparable discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, or a comparable finance role. Experience in IT controlling, shared services, service organisations, or logistics is an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost-centre accounting.
• Ideally, experience in project controlling, business cases, service or product costing, or the financial management of IT expenditure.
• A solid understanding of financial accounting, financial statements, and capitalisation principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations.
• Advanc - ed Excel skills; experience with SAP and Power BI or comparable business-intelligence solutions is desirable.
• The confidence to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders and to explain financial matters clearly to IT specialists, managers, and international colleagues.
• A structured, independent, and hands-on approach, combined with consistency and strong attention to detail.
• A collaborative mindset and business-fluent English; German or another European language is an additional advantage.
