Job summary

Rhenus SE & Co. is seeking an IT Controlling professional to join our Overland Transport IT organization in Europe. You will act as the Controlling partner, collaborate with IT management, and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting.

You will build transparent cost structures for IT expenditures, monitor project budgets, and provide management with actionable analyses to drive cost efficiency and informed decision making across international teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration or Informatics.
• 3+ years in controlling, FP&A or similar finance role; IT/Logistics experience is a plus.
• Solid budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost-centre accounting knowledge.
• Ideally project controlling, business cases and IT cost management experience.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, statements and capitalization.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills; ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills; SAP and Power BI or BI tools desirable.
• Comfort working with finance and IT stakeholders across international teams.
• Structured, independent, hands-on approach with attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and business-fluent English; other European languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Overland Controlling partner for the Overland Transport IT organization.
• Monitor IT cost centres monthly: planning, forecasting, actuals and variance analysis.
• Support development of a transparent cost structure for IT costs.
• Monitor IT project budgets, business cases, planned savings and productivity KPIs.
• Ensure IT purchases are approved, recorded, and cost liabilities transparent.
• Prepare reports and papers for IT management and steering meetings.
• Collaborate with country groups to increase cost transparency.
• Contribute to service/product costing and pricing models.
• Help develop the financial steering model including cost recovery and unit costs.
• Improve controlling standards, reporting processes and analytical tools.

What You Can Expect

• Act as the Overland Controlling partner for our Overland Transport IT organization, working closely with IT management, operational stakeholders, and international country organizations.
• Take responsibility for the monthly monitoring of IT cost centers, including planning, forecasting, actual reporting, variance analysis, and the follow-up of appropriate actions with budget owners.
• Support the development and maintenance of a transparent controlling structure for IT costs, covering areas such as personnel, licences, development, consulting, projects, and other IT-related expenditures.
• Monitor IT project budgets, business cases, planned savings, and relevant productivity KPIs, providing management with a reliable basis for decision-making.
• Help ensure that IT purchases are properly approved, assigned, and recorded, while maintaining transparency over key suppliers, contracts, and cost responsibilities.
• Prepare meaningful reports, analyses, and decision papers for IT management and the Overland Controlling team, while providing financial support in regular steering and review meetings.
• Collaborate with country organizations to increase transparency regarding IT costs.
• As the IT organization develops, help establish service and product costing for IT solutions and contribute to the design of sustainable pricing and charging models.
• Contribute to the further development of the financial steering model for an internal IT service organization, including cost recovery, unit-cost analysis, resource utilization, and management reporting.
• Continuously improve controlling standards, reporting processes, and analytical tools in close cooperation with the Overland Controlling team and the IT organization.

What You Bring

• A degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration or Informatics, or a comparable discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, or a comparable finance role. Experience in IT controlling, shared services, service organisations, or logistics is an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost-centre accounting.
• Ideally, experience in project controlling, business cases, service or product costing, or the financial management of IT expenditure.
• A solid understanding of financial accounting, financial statements, and capitalisation principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations.
• Advanc - ed Excel skills; experience with SAP and Power BI or comparable business-intelligence solutions is desirable.
• The confidence to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders and to explain financial matters clearly to IT specialists, managers, and international colleagues.
• A structured, independent, and hands-on approach, combined with consistency and strong attention to detail.
• A collaborative mindset and business-fluent English; German or another European language is an additional advantage.
