Job summary

GTD Science, Infrastructures & Robotics seeks an experienced PLC Control Software Engineer to join the Instrumentation and Control group for fusion energy and scientific projects. You will contribute to ITER by designing and implementing robust control systems and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires Siemens STEP7/TIA Portal, SCL, and familiarity with automation protocols, documentation, and validation activities. A dynamic, international work environment is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in industrial automation, electronics or similar degree.
• Minimum 6 years of Instrumentation and Control Engineering experience.
• Experience with Siemens STEP7 and TIA Portal, SCL language.
• Experience with PROFINET/PROFIBUS, Modbus, OPC UA protocols.
• Experience designing state machines and control architectures.
• High level of English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex control systems for ITER projects.
• Develop technical documentation such as SRS, FDS and I/O lists.
• Create and validate control software architectures and interlocks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on fusion energy projects.
• Support FAT/SAT testing and system validation.

Position activities:

GTD Science, Infrastructures & Robotics is now looking for an experienced PLC Control Software Engineer within the Instrumentation and Control group to participate in fusion energy and Scientific projects. You will join our dynamic team, working on the ITER project, a cutting-edge nuclear fusion research facility.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary Instrumentation and Control group on the design and implementation of complex control systems for ITER projects.

ITER is an international nuclear fusion research and engineering megaproject aimed at replicating the fusion processes of the Sun to create energy on earth.

Possibility to extend the work to other I&C activities depending on the interest of the candidate and the demand in other projects.

Requirements:

Must have knowledge and tools:

• Degree in industrial, automation, electronics or similar.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering projects, preferably in process industries.
• Experience in Siemens automation systems using STEP7 and TIA PORTAL with SCL language (S7 300, 400, 1500 & 1200).
• Experience developing technical documentation: SRS, FDS, I/O lists, cable diagrams, Bill of Materials and test procedures among others.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus and OPC UA.
• Experience designing and implementing state machines, control sequences, operating modes and interlocks.
• Experience designing control system and PLC software architectures.
• Experience with system validation FAT/SAT
• High level of English

Valuable:

• Experience with any object-oriented programming language, e.g. Python, C++.
• Experience in SCADA systems using WinCCOA or similar.
• Experience in Distributed Control Systems.
• Experience with safety systems compliant with IEC 61511 using Siemens Safety PLC or similar.
• Experience with electrical diagrams such as EPLAN, SEE Electrical or similar.
• Experience with Agile methodology.
• Understanding of Large Scientific Projects like ITER or CERN Projects.
