Job summary

Orbotix is seeking a Head of Engineering - Drone Systems to lead the technical direction for its drone platforms in Valencia or Brasov, Spain. This full-time role requires 10+ years of experience and fluent English, overseeing architecture, hardware-software integration, and AI fusion for autonomous drones.

The position offers leadership of an expanding engineering team with flexible hours and private medical insurance in Spain.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in aerospace, robotics, UAVs or complex embedded systems
• Strong systems engineering and hardware-software integration background
• Delivered complex systems from concept to deployment
• Proven leadership of senior engineers
• Fluent English
• Defence or dual-use experience, PX4/ArduPilot and autonomy exposure are nice to have

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction of Orbotix's drone platforms and the engineering organisation as it scales.
• Own the overall architecture and guide mechanical, electronics, embedded, flight-control and AI integration decisions.
• Set engineering standards and practices across teams.

Contract: full time. Language: English (fluent). Work experience: 10+ years.

The role covers lead the technical direction of Orbotix's drone platforms and the engineering organisation as it scales: own the overall architecture, guide mechanical, electronics, embedded, flight-control and AI integration decisions, set engineering standards and practices, surface technical risks early and align the technical roadmap with product strategy.

Can be based in Valencia (Spain) or Brasov (Romania).
