Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer to join the Transformers business unit. You will lead supplier assessments, implement QA improvements, and drive continuous improvement across the global supplier base.

You will manage audits, parts approvals, and supplier performance evaluations while supporting sustainability initiatives and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires 8+ years in QA and supplier development with travel.

Formación

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier development in metal fabrication, welding, machining, transformer components or similar industries.
• Knowledge of heat treatment and surface protection processes (hot-dip galvanization, powder/wet paint, E-coating, etc.).
• Familiarity with ISO-9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; external auditor certification is a plus.
• Welding/inspecting certifications (IWE/IWI, FROSIO, ISO 9712) is a strong advantage.
• Understanding of ISO 3834, EN 1090, welding standards, and NDT standards; experience with QA checks and acceptance levels.
• Proven experience with APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and inspection test plan creation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with strong organizational and time management skills; excellent communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier assessments and audits.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the supplier qualification process with SAP Ariba assessments and global on-site audits to ensure compliance and capability.
• Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audits and identified process improvements.
• Oversee the global parts approval process ensuring supplier materials meet technical and operational requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance indicators and drive annual Supplier Performance Evaluation to address low performers.
• Develop action plans for supplier performance recovery, working with suppliers to ensure corrective actions are effective.
• Resolve escalated non-conformities with root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level.
• Support SCM sustainability initiatives aligning with material and supplier sustainability goals.

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will ensure our suppliers deliver high-quality materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness. You will implement proactive quality assurance processes to enhance the quality and delivery performance of our supply base. Aligning with our Category Strategy, you will lead supplier assessments, manage development initiatives, oversee parts approvals, and drive continuous improvement, ultimately elevating our supplier partnerships and contributing to our operational excellence.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Lead the supplier qualification process by conducting SAP Ariba assessments and executing global on-site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability.
• Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements, fostering enhanced collaboration and quality outcomes.
• Oversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements.

Your background

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier development. in the field of metal fabrication, welding, machining, transformer components or similar industries.
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes and surface protection processes such as hot-dip galvanization, powder and wet paint processes, E-coating (KTL) processes, etc.
• Familiarity with ISO-9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and external auditor certification is a plus.
• Welding engineering/inspector certification (e.g. International Welding Engineer/Inspector (IWE/IWI), painting/coating inspector certification (e.g. FROSIO), NDT certification (ISO 9712) is a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of management standards such as ISO 3834, EN 1090, welding standards (ISO 9606, ISO 15609, ISO 15614) and the quality acceptance levels (e.g. ISO 5817, ISO 23277) and Non-destructive testing standards (ISO 3452, ISO 17637).
• Proven experience with the process audits, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and inspection test plan creation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with suppliers and cross- functional teams effectively.
• Willingness to travel internationally to conduct supplier assessments and audits

The minimum salary for this position in the location specified is as follows:

Italy: starting from 62.200 € gross annual salary, Applicable CBA: Metalmeccanico
