Job summary

TECNUN, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, invites applications for a fully funded PhD researcher to join the Resilience group in Donostia-San Sebastián. The project combines Generative Agent-Based Modelling with Simulation Optimization to study climate action policies and disaster resilience, with supervision by Prof. Josune Hernantes and Dr.

Sahar Elkady. The appointment is 3- to 4-year; strong background in computational modelling, Python, ML/LLMs preferred; teaching

Qualifications

MSc in Computer Science, Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computational Social Science, or a closely related field.
Solid background in computational modelling, simulation, or optimization techniques.
Programming in Python, with experience in LLM frameworks, prompt engineering, or agent-based frameworks is a strong plus.
Familiarity with machine learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), or NLP.
Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and writing skills; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Conduct research leading to the doctoral thesis and disseminate findings through high-quality publications in international journals.
Lead and contribute to research projects related to the topic and assist in drafting research proposals and funding applications.
Participate in seminars, workshops, and department activities; contribute to teaching activities, including as a teaching assistant and proctoring exams.
