Emeritus is seeking a Financial Controller in Madrid to oversee the monthly financial close, prepare analyses, and coordinate with global teams. The role reports to the CFO, Global Alumni, and requires strong knowledge of Spanish accounting and SAP/SAP S/4HANA experience.

• 4–7 years of experience in accounting, controlling, audit or similar finance positions.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee monthly financial close, including P&L, balance sheet, reconciliations and analysis of key accounts.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external accounting/tax providers to ensure timely close.
• Monitor financial KPIs and analyze variances against budget/forecast.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support business decisions.
• Act as operational point of contact for Group Finance teams during reporting and control processes.

Financial closing and control

• Oversee and review the monthly financial close , including P&L, balance sheet, reconciliations, and analysis of key accounts.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external accounting and tax providers to ensure the quality and timely completion of the financial close.
• Monitor financial KPIs and analyze variances against budget and forecast.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support business decision‑making.
• Act as the operational point of contact for Group Finance teams across recurring reporting and control processes.

Accounting and financial policies

• Review the correct application of the Spanish General Accounting Plan (PGC).
• Support the identification and reconciliation of differences between local accounting standards and Group financial policies under IFRS and/or US GAAP.
• Contribute to ensuring the consistency and quality of financial information.

Audit

• Prepare the information and documentation required for financial audits.
• Coordinate with the relevant teams to resolve and follow up on audit queries and requests.

SAP S/4HANA and finance transformation

• Actively participate in the SAP S/4HANA implementation from a finance and process perspective.
• Support process definition and review, testing and UAT, data validation, and system stabilization following implementation.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate reporting, reconciliation, and analysis processes.
• Use advanced tools such as Excel, Power Query, and generative AI to improve the efficiency and quality of financial processes.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and process optimization within the Finance function.

4-7 years of experience in accounting, controlling, audit, or similar finance positions.

• Strong knowledge of the Spanish General Accounting Plan (PGC).
• We are not necessarily looking for a technical accounting specialist, but rather someone able to understand, analyze, and reconcile different accounting frameworks.
• Advanced Excel skills , including pivot tables, complex formulas, and Power Query.
• Ability to work autonomously , identify opportunities for improvement, and propose solutions without constant supervision.
• Professional English , both written and spoken, to work regularly with international teams.
• Experience with SAP / SAP S/4HANA is highly valued.
• Previous experience in a Big Four firm, audit, or international companies is valued.

A position with direct exposure to the CFO of Global Alumni and Group Finance teams.
