Ebury invites aspiring finance specialists to join our Finance team as a Financial Accountant Intern in Spain. You will gain hands-on experience with expenses, reconciliations and month-end close while learning from experienced accountants in a global fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables) and ERP/accounting systems experience a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical, organized approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Global Expense Management: review, process and reconcile expenses across 30+ entities.
• Assist with Policy Compliance: check receipts against global expense policy for potential non‑compliance.
• Assist in Payment Timelines: monitor expense approvals and reimbursements for on‑time delivery.
• Assist in Purchase Cards: help with card issuance requests, setup and activity logging under supervision.
• Assist Employee Inquiries: provide initial support for basic expense questions and software navigation.
• General Finance Support: support month‑end closes and routine reconciliations.

Financial Accountant Intern

Ebury Leon, Malaga or Madrid Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

Are you about to start your career in finance and eager to learn from the inside of a global FinTech? As a Financial Accountant Intern, you will join our Finance team and get hands‑on experience in expense management, reconciliations and month‑end close, working alongside experienced accountants who will support your growth from day one.

What you’ll do

• Assist in Global Expense Management: Support senior accountants in reviewing, processing, and reconciling day‑to‑day employee expenses across 30+ Ebury entities globally.
• Assist with Policy Compliance: Support the team by checking submitted expense receipts against Ebury’s global expense policy to highlight potential non‑compliance.
• Assist in Payment Timelines: Help monitor expense approval workflows and payment tracking to support the team in delivering on‑time reimbursements.
• Assist in Purchase Cards: Support the administration of corporate purchase cards by assisting with issuance requests, card setup, and activity logging under supervision.
• Assist Employee Inquiries: Provide initial support for basic employee questions regarding expense claims and guide staff on expense software navigation.
• General Finance Support: Assist the wider finance team during month‑end closes, helping gather documentation and perform routine reconciliation checks.

What you’ll need

• Currently studying, or recently graduated in, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables); experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g. SAP, NetSuite) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to your work.
• Good written and spoken English (B2 or above) and fluent Spanish, as you will work with colleagues across the business.
• Excellent communication skills and a service‑oriented mindset to handle employee queries with clarity and patience.
• Proactive, curious and eager to learn, with a strong sense of ownership and integrity when handling confidential financial information.
• Previous internship or work experience in finance, accounting or administration is a plus, but not essential.
