MediaMarktSaturn Technology is seeking a driven professional to lead search relevance configurations and model improvements within our Solr-based ecommerce search stack. You will work with data scientists, backend engineers and product managers across multiple countries to translate business needs into robust search configurations.

You’ll contribute to ETL-driven indexing, document schemas, and feature engineering, while documenting technical decisions for global teams.

Formación

Degree in informatics, business informatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field is a plus, but not mandatory to apply.
Interest to learn Search algorithms and processes related to data ETL and relevance optimization (precision, recall, ndCG).
Understanding of Python & Java/Kotlin, DevOps, and K8s knowledge is a plus.

Responsabilidades

Overseeing all search relevance configurations and parameter settings inside our Solr-based E-commerce Search Engine during ETL.
Collaborate with POs, Data Analysts, and Search Managers from several countries to translate business requirements into search configurations.
Work with data scientists, backend engineers, and product managers to improve relevance models, filters, and mappings.
Create and maintain technical documentation and transfer knowledge to operational units in different countries.

Your Tasks

The Search team is responsible for providing products to our customers. We must provide the relevant products first to ensure that every customer can find what they’re looking for. To provide a better list of products, we must always consider what is relevant to our customers. That is why the Relevance area is crucial to our search.

We need to work with several countries, gather the requirements, and apply those so our search keeps improving daily.

Tasks

Overseeing all search relevance configurations and parameter settings inside our self-developed Apache Solr-based E-commerce Search Engine and data processing rules (e.g., for filter creation) during ETL
Constantly exchanging with POs, Data Analysts, and Search Managers from several countries concerning active topics (e.g., campaign support) and needing to be able to transfer business requirements into search configurations at the code level
Working with data scientists, backend engineers, and product managers to improve our relevance models, filter, mappings, and products, participating in discovery meetings and architectural discussions/decisions with the rest of the team
Understanding and/or creating technical and feature-related documentation and the transference of that knowledge back into operational units in different countries will also be a part of your recurring tasks

Your Profile

Interest to learn or already know Search algorithms and processes related to data ETL (structured collections/indexes, field types for searching/filtering/bucketing, etc.) and search relevance optimization (precision, recall, nDCG, etc.)
Willingness to learn about Solr and how it works
Possessing a significant technical understanding and being able to quickly grasp new tasks and highly complex subjects
A degree in informatics, business informatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field is a plus, but not mandatory to apply.
Understanding of Python & Java/Kotlin, DevOps, and K8s knowledge are a plus
Good, but optional, to have years of experience working with either Apache Solr or Elasticsearch and feel comfortable with field schemas and complex queries, incl. boosts, filters, and Lucene function queries. Any experience with e-commerce search solutions is a plus
Being reliable and motivated and bringing solid communication skills, the right team spirit, the ambition to be innovative and taking search relevance to the next level
