MediaMarktSaturn Plattform Services GmbH in Barcelona is seeking a senior backend developer to design, implement and operate scalable services for our Global Loyalty ecosystem. You will work with Kotlin, GCP, and modern DevOps practices to deliver reliable solutions that power millions of interactions across Europe.

The role emphasizes event-driven architecture, NoSQL (MongoDB), containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, and IaC with Terraform.

Formación

5+ years of professional software development experience.
Backend development with Kotlin (JVM).
Strong knowledge of server-side architecture and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
IaC with Terraform is a plus.
Familiarity with Kotlin coroutines and Kotlin web frameworks (Ktor) is a plus.

Responsabilidades

Design, implement, maintain and operate robust backend services for our Customer & Marketing environment using Kotlin.
Utilize Terraform, Kubernetes, GitOps with Flux, and Docker to build scalable systems.
Develop CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for smooth deployments.
Work with Google Cloud products (BigQuery, GKE, Pub/Sub) and MongoDB Atlas.
Use Kotest and Testcontainers to ensure high‑quality, reliable code.
Collaborate in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban) and participate in on-call duty.

Your Tasks

Design, implement, maintain and operate robust backend services to support scalable and reliable applications for our Customer & Marketing environment using Kotlin
Utilize infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, GitOpswith Flux, and Dockerto build and manage scalable systems
Develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actionsto ensure smooth and efficient deployment processes
Work with Google Cloud products including BigQuery, GKE, PubSub and MongoDB Atlas to enhance and optimize cloud-based applications
Employ test frameworks like Kotestand libraries like Testcontainersto ensure high-quality, reliable code
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and code base while working with the methods of agile software development such as Scrum or Kanban
Participate in regular on-call dutyas part of the team rotation to ensure high availability

Your Profile

Technical Expertise

5+ years of professional experienceas a software developer
Experience with Kotlin (JVM)for backend development
Extensive knowledge in server-side backend development
Hands‑on experience with event-driven architectureand GCP Pub/Sub
Solid knowledge of NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB
General understanding of containerizationand orchestrationtechnologies such as Dockerand Kubernetes, preferably with hands‑on experience
Experience with IaCusing Terraformis a plus
Experience with Ktoras web-framework is a plus
Familiarity with Arrow as a functional programming library is a plus
Familiarity with the concept of coroutinesin Kotlinis a plus
