Job description

Your Mission

At INBRAIN, we are developing intelligent neural technologies powered by graphene to create life‑changing therapies for patients with neurological disorders. Bringing these innovations to patients requires a robust and scalable manufacturing environment built on advanced microfabrication processes, exceptional engineering, and a culture of continuous improvement.

We are looking for an Equipment & Automation Engineer to own and optimize the production equipment that enables our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of manufacturing equipment, from specification and installation through qualification, maintenance, automation, and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with Operations, Facilities, Quality, and external partners to ensure equipment reliability, support production growth, and develop solutions that improve safety, throughput, and operational efficiency. This is a highly hands‑on role with significant ownership and visibility across the organization.

What You'll Do
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
  • Own the reliability and maintenance strategy for assigned production equipment, including predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting, root‑cause investigations, and corrective actions to minimize downtime and support manufacturing continuity.
  • Monitor equipment performance, failure trends, and maintenance metrics to identify opportunities for reliability improvements and risk reduction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment availability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Equipment Lifecycle & Capital Projects
  • Define technical requirements and specifications for new production equipment, tooling, and critical spare parts, supporting supplier selection and procurement activities.
  • Lead equipment implementation projects from concept through installation, commissioning, qualification, validation, production release, and operational handover.
  • Develop equipment lifecycle plans and contribute to long‑term manufacturing scalability and asset management strategies.
  • Coordinate facility readiness activities, including utilities, infrastructure, environmental controls, safety requirements, and equipment hookups.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for equipment manufacturers and service providers, ensuring effective collaboration and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Manage external suppliers and machine shops, including technical drawings, GD&T specifications, statements of work, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Facilities, Quality, Procurement, and external contractors to successfully deploy and maintain manufacturing capabilities.
Automation & Manufacturing Improvement
  • Design and implement custom tools, fixtures, equipment modifications, and automation solutions that improve equipment capability, reliability, safety, throughput, and productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance manufacturing efficiency through innovative engineering solutions.
  • Support microfabrication operations and semiconductor‑to‑flexible‑substrate integration through equipment and process‑engineering projects.
Quality & Compliance
  • Maintain equipment lifecycle documentation, including maintenance plans, qualification records, calibration requirements, risk assessments, BOMs, technical drawings, and change‑control documentation.
  • Ensure equipment‑related activities are executed in compliance with ISO 13485 requirements and internal quality procedures.
  • Support qualification, validation, and change‑control activities associated with new and existing equipment.
What You’ll Bring
  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with semiconductor or advanced manufacturing equipment within maintenance, reliability, or equipment engineering functions.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and qualification.
  • Experience managing technical suppliers, service providers, and external contractors.
  • Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
Nice to have
  • Experience working in cleanroom manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, machine integration, or custom equipment development.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, MEMS, flexible electronics, or medical device production.
  • Experience operating within regulated environments and quality management systems, particularly ISO 13485.
