Your Mission

As part of the Leadership team at Infinity Ward, the Environment Art Lead oversees the visual and technical creation and standards for our environments. You’ll join a team of leaders focusing on empowering our global team of artists and helping make our content come alive through realism and storytelling. We’re seeking an experienced leader who knows the ins and outs of creating believable and interesting spaces, within the technical and artistic constraints of consoles and PC. You should be able to educate artists and describe why or how an environment can look and play better or be more performant. As a mentor, you’re proactively finding solutions to improve pipelines and workflows and deliver clear and constructive feedback to both internal and external artists with confidence. Collaborating comes natural to you, both when developing new workflows, working with coders and designers, while guiding artists on your team to be successful in their task. Being an ambassador for environments, you’ll represent the Infinity Ward Studio within Activision, working with level artists, photogrammetry experts, designer leads and Directors within our studios. This role is based in our Barcelona office and follows an onsite work schedule of five days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining quality for the environment made for the project by our global team of artists.
  • Maintain and mentor artists on established workflows and best practices.

  • Research and incorporate latest techniques and industry standards.
  • Work closely with Tools, Engine, and Tech art counterparts to develop new workflows or improve existing tools and technologies to streamline team efficiency.
  • Create documentation of processes for others to follow as needed.
  • Provide feedback to both internal and external artists regarding quality and technical execution.
Experience

  • 3+ years in a leadership position, supervising artists in creating realistic environments.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with production/designers to sort of gameplay vs visual expectations, meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of working with build kits and a strong understanding of large world construction methods, both technically and visually. Advanced skills in software: Unreal Engine and Maya.
Key Attributes
  • Takes direction well and can confidently give clear concise direction.
  • Willingness to improve and learn new skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
