Job summary

Datadog is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 4–8 library engineers, shaping architecture, APIs, and data models for cutting-edge APM observability tools. You will stay hands-on, contribute where it matters, and mentor senior engineers while ensuring high-quality software delivery.

You’ll collaborate with product and backend teams to expand platform capabilities, define open-source instrumentation, and foster a culture focused on customer needs and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping software products.
• Strong leadership with ability to grow high-performing teams.
• Experience converting product narratives into technical designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of roughly 4-8 library engineers — coaching, giving direct feedback, and empowering senior ICs as technical leaders owning outcomes
• Own team delivery and productivity: planning, milestones, reviews
• Collaborate with Product teams to reshape and grow platform capabilities and deliver open-source, zero-touch APM instrumentation
• Stay technically close to the work—set high quality standards and contribute code where it matters
• Build relationships and drive alignment across language teams and product, backend
• Shape team identity and culture
