Freenow by Lyft seeks a Backend Engineer (m/f/d) for our Driver Engagement Team in Barcelona. You will design and build scalable backend systems, contribute to a highly skilled cross‑functional group, and help enhance driver engagement and QoS across Europe.

You will work on loyalty/rewards, driver analytics, self‑service tools, and insights integration. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a state‑of‑the‑art codebase with AI tooling in the development lifecycle.

Formación

• Passionate about Kotlin or Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks, automated tests and CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Datadog, Kibana).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Keen about scalable web applications, such as RESTful APIs, transactions, and resiliency.
• Familiar with messaging by using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• High level of creativity; there’s freedom to think outside the box.
• Be communicative, proactive, and collaborative.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsabilidades

• Own the Feature, Own the Code – bring in your feature ideas, develop, test and deploy.
• Design and develop systems based on product requirements or refactorings.
• Maintain and improve existing systems by finding bottlenecks and performance issues.
• Collaborate with team in an Agile environment and participate in agile ceremonies.
• Be accountable for topics, while collaborating with the team.
• Stay on top of latest tech trends and bring best practices.
• Write high‑quality automated tests and remediate security risks.
• Review and approve code reviews for your services.
• Participate in engineering chapter/craft community and share learnings.
• Take part in incident response and keep documentation up to date.
