Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe is seeking a Data Engineer to join the TDDT Data Integration team within AD&S Data Management & AI. You will own data integration pipelines from design to deployment across diverse data sources and partners.

The role requires 5+ years in data integration, strong Python/Node.js/JavaScript/Flask skills, and on-prem microservices experience. Collaboration and security clearance are mandatory, with a permanent contract in a multinational aerospace setting.

Qualifications

• University degree in IT related field.
• English and Spanish negotiation level required.

• Existing Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one would be mandatory.
• Over 5 years of relevant work experience as a Data Engineer with focus on Data Integration.
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience building data pipelines with Enterprise Data Integration Platforms (ETL/ELT/API) for large scale data pipelines (on-premises).
• Experience handling data from csv, json, xml, relational databases etc.
• Programming languages related to data integration: Python, Flask, Node, JavaScript, Express.
• Experience developing technical and support documentation, translating requirements into reporting/models.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, APIs.
• Understanding of microservices and EDA, preferably On-Prem.
• Knowledge of DevOps methods/tools (2–3 years).
• IT project management knowledge.
• ITSM basics.
• Data Analytics and AI principles/techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and deploy data integration products to meet Digital projects.
• Define integration tasks for new Use Cases with Product Owner.
• Lead UATs and deployment for new data integrations with Operations Manager.
• Support Data Integration Platform performance to meet SLA.
• Assist migration of pipelines to microservices/API-based architecture.
• Support AI adoption initiatives to leverage interoperability layer.
• Assist data modelling per Data Foundations and semantic layer.
• Provide technical advice on architecture and integrations.
• Create physical data models in integration platforms and run data quality checks.
• Develop and maintain configuration management docs and UAT artifacts.

Job Description:

A position for a Data Engineer has just arised within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe. The successful candidate will join TDDT Data Integration team which is part of AD&S Data Management & AI. As a Data Engineer you will take responsibility for the data integration pipelines design, implementation and deployment, between multiple data sources including Business Systems, Engineering Systems, Machines, Drones, etc. using our transversal and transnational Integration Platforms/Products. The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of experts working in classical and agile project management methodologies. Depending on the projects the applicant will have an end-to-end accountability for the solution implementation and provide the necessary inputs to his/her colleagues to guarantee the best in class service after deployment phase. You will make the data fly inside Airbus Defence & Space and also from and to outside partners, customers or governments!

Main tasks:

• Responsible of the integration activities, including design, implementation and deployment, inside data integration products to accomplish requests from the Digital projects
• Responsible to define the integration tasks associated to new development related to new Use Cases or needs raised by associated Product Owner
• Responsible of UATs and Deployment activities associated to new data integrations in close alignment with Operation Manager of associated data integration product
• Support Data Integration Platform performance analysis in order to guarantee the existing SLA
• Support on migration of the existing data pipelines into the new microservices architecture API-based
• Support to AI Adoption acceleration initiatives in order to leverage the new interoperability layer that will support Agentic AI approach at company level
• Support Data modelling activities in line with the Data Foundations and Semantic layer defined by Data owners

Outputs:

• Information Flows up to date with the new data flows developed and deployed
• Data Integration Platform SLR up to date
• Configuration Mgt documentation
• UATs deliverables in alignment with Project Manager
• Deployment plan and associated acceptance criteria per data flows
• Data Integration technologies metrics
• Technical advice on architecture and integrations related to project tasks in his/her perimeter or responsibility
• Physical data models in corresponding Data Integration platforms for associated data UCs
• Data Quality checks of the implemented pipelines and automated alerts mechanisms

Skills & Competencies:

• University degree in IT related field
• English and Spanish negotiation level is required
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Existing Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one would be mandatory
• Over 5 years of relevant work experience as a Data Engineer with key focus on Data Integration aspects, including Data Quality checks
• Over 5 years of hands‑on experience in building/developing data pipelines with Enterprise Data Integration Platforms (middlewares, ETL, ELT, API platforms …) solutions/integrations for large scale data pipelines (on‑premises)
• Experience in handling data from a variety of sources like csv, json, xml, relational databases and so on
• Deep experience in programming languages related to data integration (Python, Flask, Node, JavaScript, Express …)
• Experience in developing technical and support documentation, translate business requirements and needs into reporting and models
• Proficiency in querying and managing both relational and NoSQL databases API based services technologies experience is mandatory
• Understanding of microservices and EDA approaches, preferably OnPrem, would be mandatory
• Knowledge on DevOps methods and tools (at least 2-3 years of experience required)
• IT project management knowledge
• Basic experience in IT Service Management principles
• Basic knowledge about Data Analytics and AI principles/techniques
