AVL Iberica is seeking a Development Engineer for Functional Safety in Oria, Spain, to support safe critical electronic control functions across e-powertrain, chassis, power electronics, HV-Battery, ADAS and more. This role requires coordinating customer requirements after training and supporting concepts up to production.

Working with a model-based development approach, you will optimize and review functional models, consider test and validation strategies, and plan the safety processes.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, vehicle technology, physics, computer science or similar.
• Enthusiasm for mobility development and technical innovation; interest in functional safety, automotive cybersecurity and automated driving.
• Basic experience in control engineering and model-based development (Matlab/Simulink, SysML or similar).
• Familiar with automotive development processes and Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or similar).
• Flexible, proactive, structured, detail-oriented working style.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficient English and Spanish language knowledge; German is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate customer requirements after training and support concept implementation up to production.
• Support model-based development and review of functional models and testing strategy.
• Assist optimization and review of existing functional models and testing strategies.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise tasks within the functional safety process.
• Document functional safety related work products.
• Handle risk assessments and safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA) per standards.
• Represent functional safety and cybersecurity within AVL and toward customers.
• Support development of new technologies.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the development of safe critical electronic control functions (e-powertrain, chassis, power electronics, HV-Battery, ADAS,...) under the aspect of functional safety according to ISO26262.
• After the initial training, you will independently carry out the coordination of customer requirements as well as the realization and support the concepts implementation and support them up to the start of production.
• Following a model-based development approach, you will support the optimization and review of existing functional models, considering also test and validation strategy.
• Support planning, coordination, and supervision of the tasks of all activities identified in the functional safety process.
• Documentation of functional safety related work products.
• Handling risk assessments, concept creation and safety analyses (e.G. HARA, FMEA, FTA...) according to the standard specifications.
• Representation of functional safety and cybersecurity within AVL and towards the customer.
• Supporting the further development of new technologies.

YOUR PROFILE:

• Necessary: Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, vehicle technology, physics, computer science or similar.
• Enthusiasm for mobility development and technical innovation as well as interest in functional safety or automotive cybersecurity and automated driving technologies.
• Basic Experience in field of control engineering and model-based development (Matlab/Simulink, SySML or similar)
• Familiar with development processes in the automotive sector as well as Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or similar)
• Flexible, proactive, structured, and detail-oriented working style
• Strong communication and team-working skills
• Proficient English and Spanish language knowledge.
• German is a big plus.
