Salter Grange is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams from project inception through construction and handover on a landmark data centre project in Barcelona.

The role requires a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments. Spanish language proficiency is essential as the project is in pre-construction in Spain.

Formación

• 5+ years of design management, engineering, or project delivery experience in construction.
• Experience on large-scale projects, ideally data centres, mission-critical, pharmaceutical or industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams across multiple countries or regions.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and manage the design process through all project phases from inception to handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including architectural, structural, civil, MEP and consultants.
• Develop and manage design programmes aligned with project delivery schedules.
• Review design deliverables for compliance with client requirements, specifications, and European/local regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, procurement and site operations to maintain design intent during construction.
• Manage design risk registers, RFIs, and change processes.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, sustainable, and buildable.
• Support value engineering while preserving project quality and performance.

Salter Grange is recruiting on behalf of a growing design and build contractor delivering a new data centre project in Barcelona.

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams from project inception through to construction and handover. This role requires a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders within fast-paced project environments. This role is currently in the pre-construction stage and needs a Spanish speaker to help drive it forward.

• Lead and manage the design process throughout all project phases, from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and specialist consultants.
• Develop and manage design programmes aligned with overall project delivery schedules.
• Review design deliverables to ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications, applicable European standards and local regulations.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, commercial teams, procurement and site operations to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
• Manage design risk registers, technical queries, Requests for Information (RFIs) and design change processes.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, sustainable, and fully buildable.
• Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining project quality and performance standards.
• 5+ years of experience in design management, engineering, or project delivery within the construction industry.
• Experience on large-scale projects, ideally within data centres, mission-critical, pharmaceutical or industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams across multiple countries or regions.
• Knowledge of European building regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
• Experience working within BIM environments, including Autodesk Revit and common data environments.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
