Job summary

AWS is seeking a Data Centre Architect in Madrid to lead DC designs for the EMEA region and influence global projects. You will guide architecture requirements and collaborate with engineers, designers, and procurement teams to deliver scalable, cost-effective data center solutions.

You will be a subject matter expert with responsibilities spanning prototypical DC facility design, design guidance, and large-scale implementation support. Travel up to 25% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Professional Architects licence

Responsibilities

• Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction; Develop & maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for Architectural elements.
• Creating and tracking metrics related to cost, quality and duration of design as well as collecting data from construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented. Establishing capital project design budgets and contributing to complex business cases for existing region and new region deployment.
• Collaborating with AWS finance teams to secure funding for projects and scheduling engineering resources with AWS Engineering leads.
• Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables; Create, review, and release design RFPs; Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process.
• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability. Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Architect to join its Data Centre Design Team in Madrid, Spain.

As a Data Centre (DC) Architect at AWS, you will lead designs for AWS Data Centres in our Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects around the world. You will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo.

You will be a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities, provide technical guidance, solve large scale implementation issues, and be responsible for Architectural design requirements.

Key job responsibilities

• Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables. Create, review, and release design RFPs. Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process. Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Cabling design engineers;


• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability. Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%;
