Job summary

Enza Zaden Services is seeking a skilled agronomist to support R&D operations in crop care, seed extraction, and breeding activities. You will guide seasonal workers and ensure safe working conditions while contributing to seed production programs.

The role involves direct collaboration with breeders and other colleagues to plan and execute crop-related programs in a greenhouse environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience.
• Thorough knowledge of processes in plant and greenhouse.

• Execution of emasculations and crossings according crossing scheme.
• Harvesting of crossings, seeds and fruits of the crops.
• Participation in all crop care, seed extraction, cleaning and/or breeding support activities.
• Daily functional guidance of seasonal workers.

Reporting to Team Lead R&D Operations/ Team Lead Seed Production/ Agronomist

Purpose

Ensure the effective routine care and treatment of crops, contributing to the success of plant breeding programs. Maintain a healthy, safe working environment while adhering to breeding protocols.

Key Accountabilities

1. Care and treatment of crops and trials.
2. Execution of emasculations and crossings according crossing scheme
3. Harvesting of crossings, seeds and fruits of the crops.
4. Participation in all crop care, seed extraction, cleaning and/or breeding support activities.
5. Daily functional guidance of seasonal workers.
6. Co-responsible for a healthy and safe working environment.

• Works independently
• Thorough knowledge of processes in plant and greenhouse
• Work includes simple administrative tasks
• Responsible for own projects, overview en communication towards Breeders
• Planning and execution of own, more complex programmes
• Functional guidance of less experienced Crop Workers (level 1 and 2) and seasonal workers
• Direct point of contact for colleauges outside own department
• Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years relevant work experience
