Whitewater Group is seeking a Cost Controller to support financial and commercial control of projects across construction and critical infrastructure environments. The role involves monitoring costs, tracking budgets, and ensuring accurate reporting through the project lifecycle.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, Procurement and the Commercial team to control margins, manage cashflow, validate costs, and oversee supplier payments in line with contracts.

Formación

  • 2+ years of experience in a business or construction environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and structured approach to tasks.
  • Fluent Spanish (C1) and English (B1) required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Getafe and other sites in Spain.
  • University degree or equivalent qualification.

Responsabilidades

  • Support commercial, financial and contractual matters on site with Project Managers.

About The Role

As Whitewater Group continues to expand internationally across multiple markets, we are seeking a Cost Controller to support the financial and commercial control of our projects across a range of construction and critical infrastructure environments.

This role will be responsible for monitoring and recording project costs, tracking the project budget, and supporting accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, Procurement, and the wider Commercial team, the successful candidate will help ensure that project costs are accurately recorded, changes and variances are monitored, and project margins are effectively controlled.

The role will also support the preparation of accurate cost information for inclusion in company financial reports, while contributing to the effective management of project cashflow and supplier payments in line with contractual requirements.

Your profile
  • Relevant experience: Preferably 2+ years of experience in a business or construction environment. However, we are open to considering an excellent candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment and willingness to learn.
  • Strong work ethic: Hardworking, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Attention to detail: Highly detail-oriented, with a structured and accurate approach to tasks.
  • Continuous learning: Curious, adaptable and eager to continuously develop new skills and knowledge.
  • Negotiation skills: Comfortable communicating and negotiating with different stakeholders.
  • Technical skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Languages:Spanish – C1 level and English – minimum B1 level.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel occasionally to Getafe and other factories across Spain.
  • Education: University degree or equivalent qualification, with a demonstrated record of academic achievement.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Project Managers and the Operations team to support commercial, financial and contractual matters on site.
  • Interact with clients through emails, calls and site meetings in a professional and clear manner, and draft formal communications.
  • Monitor the project budget, track monthly changes and costs, and support project margin control.
  • Understand payment terms and support the timely issuance of valuations, supplier payments and protection of project cashflow.
  • Record equipment and materials held in warehouses, take photographs and prepare vesting reports. Travel tofactories as required.
  • Receive, review and respond to subcontractor payment claims, visit sites to verify completed works, communicate with Project Managers, and ensure supplier payments and costs are recorded. Raise Purchase Orders for new costs.
  • Submit monthly valuations to clients on time, in accordance with the contractual requirements and supported by the relevant evidence, and negotiate certification with the client.
  • Understand and operate contracts in accordance with their contractual clauses, draft contractual notices and letters with manager approval, and understand time bars and preconditions.
  • Identify changes in scope, design or programme and assess whether they result in changes in cost. Work with the project team, Procurement and Estimating to calculate costs and prepare client quotations.
  • Receive, review and respond to subcontractor variation claims and document the before-and-after analysis of changes.
  • Control and record the overall project costs, including labour, materials, plant, subcontractors and overheads.
  • Prepare accurate project cost information for inclusion in company financial reports.
  • Measure quantities of materials from drawings, BIM models or on site, under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Maintain an understanding of insurance requirements, guarantees and bonds.
  • Understand how to manage disagreements with suppliers and clients while adhering to the terms of the contract.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager and relevant departments, responding proactively to supervision and mentorship from senior members of the commercial team.
