Job summary

Pentagon Technical Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Commissioning (Cx) Manager for a data centre project in Madrid, Spain. You will lead Level 3 witnessing across all electrical and mechanical power strings, then carry out P2G verification on the BMS for each asset.

The role requires hands-on Cx leadership, site attendance on agreed dates, and clear reporting to the project team. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data centre commissioning and at least 2 years in a Cx Manager or lead witnessing role.
• Proven L3 witnessing on mission-critical electrical and mechanical plant.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV distribution, UPS and battery systems, standby generation and data hall cooling.
• Fluent English; Spanish is an advantage; able to read single-line diagrams and operation sequences.

Responsibilities

• Attend site on agreed programme dates to witness L3 functional testing across all power strings.
• Verify each asset operates to design intent, specification and approved test scripts.
• Carry out P2G checks on the BMS for every asset, confirming points, alarms and graphics match the field equipment.
• Witness and support integrated testing activities, including heat load testing of the data halls where required.
• Record, track and close out defects and observations with contractors and the wider Cx team.
• Review and sign off L3 test scripts, completed records and P2G checklists.
• Produce clear daily and end-of-visit reports for the project team.
• Work safely in live and energised environments, following site permit-to-work and LOTO procedures.

You will lead Level 3 (L3) witnessing across all electrical and mechanical power strings, then carry out point-to-graphics (P2G) verification on the Building Management System (BMS) for each asset.

The role suits a hands‑on Cx professional who can attend site on agreed dates, witness testing independently and report clearly to the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Verify each asset operates to design intent, specification and approved test scripts.
• Carry out point‑to‑graphics (P2G) checks on the BMS for every asset, confirming points, alarms and graphics match the field equipment.
• Witness and support integrated testing activities, including the heat load testing of the data halls where required.

Systems in scope

L3 witnessing and BMS P2G cover the following assets across all power strings:

Electrical – HV/MV Ring Main Units (RMU), Transformers (Tx)

Electrical – LV distribution Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Main Busbar LV (MBLV), Main Power Distribution Boards (MPDB), Static Transfer Switches (STS)

Electrical – standby & critical power Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS),

Batteries (BATT)

Mechanical – cooling Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), Cooling Sets, Air Handling Units (AHU), Fan Wall Units (FWU)

Controls- BMS point‑to‑graphics verification against each asset above

Experience and skills

• 5+ years in data centre commissioning, including at least 2 years in a Cx Manager or lead witnessing role.
• Proven L3 witnessing on mission‑critical electrical and mechanical plant, ideally on hyperscale or colocation projects.
• Strong working knowledge of HV/LV distribution, UPS and battery systems, standby generation and data hall cooling.
• Hands‑on experience with BMS/EPMS integration and P2G verification.
• Confident reading single‑line diagrams, cause‑and‑effect matrices, sequences of operation and test scripts.
• Familiar with Cx management platforms (e.g. Procore, Facility Grid, CxAlloy or similar).
• Clear communicator – able to work with contractors, client teams and multinational crews.
• Fluent English required; Spanish is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Recognised Cx certification (e.g. CDCP, BCxA, ACG or similar) is desirable.
• Valid site safety card (e.g. SMSTS, SSSTS or CSCS) or local equivalent.
• Authorised Person (AP) or HV awareness training is an advantage.
• EU right to work, or the ability to work in Spain via an appropriate contracting route
