Job summary

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Combat Systems Technician (CANES/Afloat Network) in Rota, Spain. The technician will maintain, install, test, and repair U.S. Navy ship software and hardware systems, providing technical support for fleet casualties and ensuring systems return to full operation.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, logistics support, and conducting assessments during various readiness programs. Travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years related experience including 3+ years hands-on in Fleet Technical Assistance and logistics support of Navy ship IT systems.
• Experience with WSUS, HBSS, VMware and Cisco switching/ routing devices; CANES knowledge.
• Maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of 6+ listed Navy ship software/hardware systems.
• Knowledge of COMSEC policies and current automated information systems.
• Top-Secret clearance is required.
• Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel proficiency; 3M knowledge.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for evaluation and correction of fleet system/equipment casualties as per JFFM and fleet requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical/electronic Combat Systems to full operational condition.
• Perform maintenance and assessment of shipboard systems, with related training.
• Conduct operational assessments during TSRAs, BMDRAs, MCIs, CSAs and pre-deployment programs.
• Provide integrated logistics and supporting services, including audits and recommendations for logistics docs, tools, and parts.
• Advise stakeholders on clutter mitigation and radar environmental impacts.
• May travel 10%+ CONUS/OCONUS and may require overtime.

Summary: The (CANES/Afloat Network) Engineering Technician will provide maintenance, installation, test, and repair of U.S. Navy ship software and hardware systems.

Roles And Responsibilities

Must have experience in the maintenance, installation, test, and repair of all of the following U.S. Navy ship software and hardware systems:

• Provide technical support for the evaluation and correction of fleet system/equipment casualties and provide technical assistance on mechanical/electrical/electronic Combat Systems casualty repairs IAW the prescribed Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM) and fleet requirements.
• May be asked to provide technical assistance for any system which Technician is qualified to provide technical assistance on this system or equipment. This assistance will consist of problem analysis, troubleshooting, isolation, correction and checkout testing to provide a clear path for resolution returning the mechanical/electrical/electronic Combat Systems and related equipment to full operational condition.
• Perform assessment and maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment, training in maintenance and overhaul processes.
• Perform the following operational assessment tasks during TSRAs, Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessments (BMDRAs), INSURVs/ Mid Cycle Inspections (MCIs), Combat Systems Assessments (CSAs), and Pre-Deployment assessments, or similar test and inspection programs as necessary.
• Provide integrated logistics and related support services to include logistics audits, reviews and assessments, which determine the adequacy of logistics support and recommend corrective actions to technical documentation, tools, support equipment, configuration, test equipment, and repair parts IAW fleet schedules.
• Ability to advise stakeholders on clutter mitigation and environmental impacts on RADAR performance.
• May require travel 10% or greater both CONUS and OCONUS.
• May require overtime.

Minimum Qualifications

• High Diploma or equivalent
• At least 5 years of related experience including a minimum of 3 years of full time, hands-on experience in the accomplishment of Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), Assessment and Logistical Support of U.S. Navy ships’ Information Technology Systems.
• Microsoft Server Update Service (WSUS) Host Based Security System (HBSS) VMWare Server variants CISCO switching and routing devices Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES)
• Must have experience in the maintenance, installation, testing and repairing of at least 6 of the following 12 U.S. Navy ship software and hardware systems: Fiber Attached Storage (FAS), Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS), Combined Enterprise Regional Exchange Information Systems (CENTRIX), Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), MSSQL Server, Linux Redhat Enterprise Server 5.0, McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System, Alcatel network switching devices (7700, 6850, 6648), SUN Microsystems server hardware systems (Sunfire V240, SUN CP3260, SUN CT900), IBM Blade Servers HP server variants, Common PC Operating System Environment (COMPOSE),
• Applicants must have a knowledge of current automated information systems and security developments as they relate to hardware, systems software, telecommunications, and systems design and development and knowledge of policies and procedures relating to COMSEC equipment.
• Applicant must have and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of Maintenance and Material Management (3M).
• Experience interpreting equipment technical manuals and mechanical and electrical drawings

ADA/Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
• Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
• Able to perform other duties as required, which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
• May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator.
• Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
• Tasks performed involve 40% work in an office environment and 60% in a shipboard environment, or in confined or secure spaces.
