Amentum in Rota, Spain, seeks a Combat Systems SPY Technician to support the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain AN/SPY-1 radar and related combat systems aboard U.S. Navy ships, ensuring readiness of AEGIS capabilities in a forward-deployed environment.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, on-site and distant support, and collaboration with ship crews. Travel, OS/DS support, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance are required.

Formación

  • Minimum 3 years journeyman-level radar/combat systems experience within the last 5 years.
  • Experience maintaining U.S. Navy radar systems including Ballistic Missile Defense equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic energy, radar theory, and electronic phasing for AN/SPY-1.
  • Ability to travel frequently, including OCONUS and shipboard environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Familiarity with MFOM/NMD and FTS maintenance/tracking systems.
  • Excellent report writing and briefing skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve AN/SPY-1 radar system casualties.
  • Provide OS and DS support for U.S. Navy ships and CONUS/OCONUS activities.
  • Maintain, install, test, and repair radar systems including BMD.
  • Perform advanced fault isolation on radar subsystems and SIGPRO components.
  • Analyze radar performance and recommend clutter reduction and environmental mitigations.
  • Assist with system assessments and logistics including APL validation.
  • Provide OJT and technical guidance to ship's force.
  • Document findings using MFOM/NMD and FTS and prepare reports per JFMM.
  • Suggest updates to MRCs, manuals, and procedures.
  • Support ETB with system analysis and corrective action.
  • Travel as required to support forward-deployed naval forces.

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Combat Systems SPY Technician to join our team in Rota, Spain, supporting the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC). This role offers a unique opportunity to directly support the readiness of forward-deployed U.S. Navy forces by maintaining and restoring critical radar and combat systems. As part of a mission-focused team operating in a dynamic, high-tempo environment, you will play a key role in ensuring advanced AEGIS weapon system capabilities remain fully operational. Essential Responsibilities :

  • Provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve casualties involving AN/SPY-1 radar and associated combat systems

  • Perform on-site (OS) and distant support (DS) for U.S. Navy ships and shore-based OCONUS activities

  • Conduct maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of radar systems, including Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) and auxiliary equipment

  • Execute advanced fault isolation within radar subsystems, including Signal Processor (SIGPRO) components

  • Analyze radar performance and provide recommendations on clutter mitigation and environmental impacts

  • Support System/Equipment Assessments (e.g., TSRA, INSURV, ICMP, BMDRAs, Combat Systems Assessments)

  • Assist with logistics support, including validation of Allowance Parts Lists (APLs) and identification of required components

  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to ship’s force personnel

  • Document findings using Navy systems (e.g., MFOM/NMD, FTS) and prepare formal reports/debriefs in accordance with JFMM standards

  • Recommend updates to technical documentation, including Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), manuals, and procedures

  • Support Engineering Technical Branch (ETB) efforts, including system analysis and corrective action development

  • Travel as required to support forward-deployed naval forces

Minimum Requirements :

  • Minimum of three (3) years of journeyman-level experience within the last five (5) years in radar/combat systems

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of U.S. Navy radar systems, including BMD-related equipment

  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic energy, radar theory, quantum theory, and electronic phasing as applied to AN/SPY-1 systems

  • Ability to understand and apply mono-pulse radar principles, including interpretation of sum and delta signals for fault isolation

  • Experience troubleshooting radar signal processing (SIGPRO) components

  • Ability to work independently without supervision in a journeyman-level capacity

  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance and tracking systems such as MFOM/NMD and FTS

  • Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, drawings, and engineering documentation

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including OCONUS and shipboard environments

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance

  • Strong communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and briefs

Preferred Qualifications (not required) :

  • Experience supporting AEGIS Weapon Systems, particularly AN/SPY-1 (all baselines)

  • Experience with Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems and configurations

  • Background supporting DDG-51, CG-47, or similar AEGIS platforms

  • Experience participating in TSRA, INSURV, BMDRAs, or Combat Systems Assessments

  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) processes

  • Prior experience providing Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) or working at a Regional Maintenance Center (RMC)

  • Experience developing or improving technical documentation and training materials

  • Active or recently held security clearance

  • Experience working in a forward-deployed or OCONUS operational environment, supporting naval forces in high-tempo, mission-critical settings
