Job summary

Lufthansa at Barcelona Airport (BCN) is seeking an experienced CAT B1.1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer to maintain the fleet to airworthiness standards, certify returns to service, and interpret MEL per EASA rules. You will perform line maintenance, lead shifts, coordinate with flight crews and airport partners, supervise technicians, and act as deputy Technical Manager when required.

Fluency in English is essential; German is advantageous, and a flexible approach is expected for rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid EASA Part-66 CAT B1.1 licence with A320 Family, B777 and B787 ratings.
• Additional type ratings on A350 and/or A220 are advantageous.
• Current HF, EWIS, and Fuel Tank Safety certificates.
• Recent certifying experience on EASA-registered aircraft (≥6 months in last 24 months).
• Fluent English; German is an advantage.
• Structured, proactive working style with ability to work independently.
• Previous leadership experience and ability to coach and motivate.
• Willingness to work rotating early, late, and night shifts.
• Valid and unlimited Schengen visa, driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform line maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and defect rectification per EASA regs and approved docs.
• Certify aircraft for return to service as EASA Part-66 CAT B1.1 Certifying Technician.
• Interpret MEL to ensure safe, compliant maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Lead and coordinate maintenance activities during shifts; ensure safety, quality, on-time performance.
• Supervise technicians and provide technical guidance.
• Act as deputy Technical Manager during shifts.
• Coordinate with flight crews, airport partners, and other stakeholders.
• Support planning and cost awareness while upholding safety and customer service standards.

Tasks

Your Responsibilities

• Perform line maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and defect rectification in accordance with EASA regulations and approved maintenance documentation.

• Interpret technical documentation, including the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), to ensure safe and compliant maintenance.

• Lead and coordinate maintenance activities during your shift, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time performance.
• Supervise and support technicians within your area of responsibility, providing technical guidance and coaching.
• Act as the Technical Manager's deputy during shift operations, making operational decisions when required.
• Coordinate technical activities with flight crews, airport partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth station operations.
• Support operational planning and cost awareness while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Requirements

Your profile

• Obligatory: valid EASA Part-66 CAT B1.1 licence with type ratings on A320 Family (all engines), B777 (GE), and B787 (RR Trent/GE).
• Additional type ratings on A350 (RR Trent) and/or A220 (PW) are an advantage.
• Current Human Factors, EWIS, and Fuel Tank Safety certificates.
• Recent certifying experience on EASA-registered aircraft (minimum 6 months within the last 24 months).
• Fluent English, both written and spoken; German is an advantage.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
• Structured and proactive working style with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Previous leadership experience and the ability to guide, coach, and motivate team members.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in a rotating three-shift system and support assignments within the Lufthansa network when required.
• Valid and unlimited Schengen Visa, driving licence.
• Working pattern: rotating early, late, and night shifts.
