IDIBELL is seeking a motivated bioinformatician to join its pancreas regeneration research group. You will analyze RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, multiome and spatial transcriptomics data generated in the lab, contributing to projects on pancreas biology and cancer.

You will work in an international team and implement pipelines in R and Python on HPC resources. Required are 3+ years in omics analyses, a BSc in bioinformatics or related field, strong scripting and version control skills, and good

• 3+ years in omics analyses in a research setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related fields.
• Strong programming in R and Python; scripting experience.
• Experience with sequence analysis and motif discovery tools.
• Experience with single-cell/high-throughput sequencing analyses and ML workflows.
• Familiarity with version control and GitHub; Linux/HPC usage.
• Pipeline development and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent English communication.

About the research group

The pancreas regeneration team is part of the Oncobell department at IDIBELL and the Department of Physiological Science at University of Barcelona-Campus Bellvitge. The team has several projects focused on pancreas biology, pancreas regeneration and pancreatic cancer with a special focused on pancreatic ductal cells.

About the role

The candidate will join an international research team focused on investigating pancreas regeneration and pancreatic cancer. The candidate will be involved in the analysis of several bioinformatic data generated in the lab, such as RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq, multiome and spatial transcriptomics.

We are looking for a highly driven, motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:

Professional experience

• At least 3 years of experience in a research laboratory performing high-throughput omics analyses (single cell RNA seq analysis and multiome analysis)

Education and training

• Bachelors degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields.

Technical & soft skills

• Strong programming skills in R and Python and a scripting language
• Experience with sequence analysis and motif discovery tools
• Experience with single-cell and/or high-throughput sequencing analyses
• Experience with data analysis and machine learning
• Use of version control software and GitHub
• Experience working with Linux environment and ability to work on a HPC (High Performance Computer)
• Pipeline development
• Work in multidisciplinary projects
• Report writing
