IRB Barcelona seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Stem Cells and Cancer group led by Dr. Salvador Aznar Benitah. The project will study how systemic metabolism drives metastatic tropism and cachexia.

The position is funded by AECC and offers training, international environment, relocation support, and a career development program. PhD required; strong English skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative setting are essential.

IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in cutting edge research line of the Stem Cells And Cancer led by Dr. Salvador Aznar Benitah. The project will involve studying the role of systemic metabolism in driving metastatic tropism and metastasis-induced cachexia.

This position is financed by the project “Targeting circadian epigenetic and posttranscriptional reprogramming of gene expression in liver cancer caused by obesity and aging, a transgenerational perspective”, financed by the AECC (file number: PRYCO234903AZNA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independently design and test biological hypotheses.
  • Plan, perform and interpret experiments.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, tapping into the expertise of fellow researchers and external collaborators.
  • Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence, efficiency, and teamwork.
  • Contribute to other lab projects and to the maintenance of protocols and laboratory resources in the group.
  • Critically analyze analytical results, participate in scientific discussions and in preparation of diverse forms of scientific communication (seminars and conferences).
  • Participate in the project activities: meetings, presentations, visits to other labs, collaboration, exchange of data sets, preparing project reports/deliverables.
  • Perform excellent research according to the high standards of the lab and the IRB Barcelona.
YOU HAVE
  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Fluent in English. Highly independent, motivated, ambitious, and collaborative person. Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.

YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE
  • Familiarity with in vivo mouse models, immunology, cancer and metabolism. Knowledge of ChIP-sequencing analysis, gene expression analysis (RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, and optimally in spatial RNA-seq) is desirable.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with data analysis software.
  • Skills: Independence, self-learning abilities, goal-oriented.
