New Relic is seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join the Personalization team on a greenfield project. You will design, build, and operate backend services and streaming pipelines, turning behavioral signals into segments and models used across classic UI and agentic experiences.

You will work in AWS infrastructure, using Java, Spring, GraphQL, NoSQL, Kubernetes, Kafka and AWS, with a focus on scalable, resilient systems and on-call ownership. Fluency in English is required.

Formación

• Fully proficient with Java and able to deliver end-to-end features and fixes.
• Experience building Kafka-based streaming pipelines in AWS production environments.
• Familiar with distributed systems, concurrency, and async programming techniques.
• Active experience with AI coding assistants/agents in the engineering workflow.

Responsabilidades

• Build, maintain, and scale backend services and Kafka-based pipelines.
• Design microservices and APIs exposing user segments and models.
• Turn behavioral signals into platform-wide segments and models.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and own on-call responsibilities.
• Automate operational processes to maintain resilience and observability.
• Collaborate across teams and participate in engineering communities of practice.
