Job summary

Rover.com in Barcelona is seeking a Software Engineer focused on datastores to manage PostgreSQL and MySQL environments. You will collaborate with the lead Database Engineer to operate, upgrade, and optimize databases and build self‑service automation.

The role requires passion for datastores, reliability, and scalability, with cross‑team collaboration across product teams and developers. Hybrid work at Poblenou two days per week is expected.

Qualifications

• Computer Science or equivalent background.
• 3+ years as a Fullstack or Backend Engineer (Django/Python).
• Solid knowledge of databases, schema design, and fundamentals (MySQL/PostgreSQL/AWS RDS).
• Experience with AWS products in production environments.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog/Cloudwatch or ELK stack.

Responsibilities

• Manage core datastore operations and user access.
• Oversee database upgrades and migrations with lead engineer.
• Develop self‑service automation tools for datastore tasks.
• Collaborate with product teams to improve datastore scalability.
• Review migrations and optimize database performance; provide 24/7 on-call support.
