Job summary

Openbank is seeking a Backend Developer / Integration Engineer to design, develop, and integrate secure, scalable backend solutions for critical banking processes. You will work on microservices, APIs, and cloud-native architectures, aligning with architecture, security, and software standards.

You will collaborate with Cybersecurity, Cloud and Architecture teams to ensure quality, compliance, and continuous improvement through CI/CD, automated testing, and AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in technology projects, backend development and integration
• Strong knowledge of Java 17+ and Spring ecosystem
• Experience with microservices, APIs, and cloud/containerized environments
• Experience in banking processes (risk/compliance) is a plus
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with security standards and software quality practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate backend solutions based on microservices
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Architecture and Cloud teams to ensure standards
• Contribute to CI/CD, code reviews, testing, and security hardening

Openbank is looking for a Backend Developer based out of Madrid or Valladolid.

As a Back End Developer / Integration Engineer, your mission will be to design, develop, and integrate secure, scalable, and high-quality backend solutions that support critical banking processes, leveraging modern cloud-native architectures, APIs, and microservices while ensuring compliance with corporate architecture, security, and software engineering standards.

• Participating in the design and development of backend applications and integration solutions based on microservices architectures, as well as the definition, development, and maintenance of APIs of various types.
• Working closely with Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Cloud teams to ensure compliance with technology, security, and software quality standards.
• Actively contributing to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes, code reviews, testing activities, technical security reinforcement, and the continuous improvement of application quality.
• Collaborating with technical and functional teams on initiatives related to banking processes, particularly in the areas of Risk Management, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), GDPR compliance, and third-party integrations.
• Contributing to the evolution of shared components, development of best practices, and the advanced use of automation and artificial intelligence tools throughout the software development lifecycle.

Professional Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in technology projects, particularly in backend development and integration environments, with strong knowledge of Java 17+ , Spring Boot , Spring JPA , Spring Security , microservices, APIs, and cloud/containerized environments.
• Previous experience in banking processes, especially in Risk Management , Compliance , and third-party integrations , will be considered a strong asset.
• Previous experience in projects within the financial services industry.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related (required)

Hard Skills

• Strong technical expertise in Java 17+ , Spring Boot , Spring JPA , Spring Security , Spring Cloud Config , and microservices-based architectures , as well as hands-on experience with Kubernetes , AWS , Amazon EKS , and other AWS cloud services such as DocumentDB , Aurora , and KMS , among others. (required)
• Experience with and knowledge of tools such as SonarQube , Fortify , Trivy , Jira , and Apigee will be considered an advantage. (required)
• Advanced use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to software development, technical productivity, automation, analysis, and support across the software development lifecycle. (required)
• Experience with Devin is highly desirable. (preferred)
• Strong focus on software quality , code reviews , security best practices , and compliance with corporate technical standards. (Required)
