AstraZeneca is actively expanding its AI for Clinical Development team to accelerate trial design and decision-making across early and late-phase programmes. You will develop, evaluate, and deploy advanced AI/ML methods, partner with Clinical Development and Regulatory teams, and build scalable data products with a software-minded approach.

• PhD preferred; MSc with an exceptional computational track record considered.
• Disciplines mentioned as relevant for education.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, evaluate, and deploy AI/ML methods for clinical trial settings, including trial design support, dose optimisation, biomarker discovery, and safety/efficacy signal detection.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of data science projects from problem framing to adoption within study teams.
• Partner with Clinical Development, Study Teams, Biometrics, and Regulatory colleagues to embed AI strategy into study design.
• Build reusable, well-documented data products—pipelines, packages, and applications—with a software engineering mindset.
• Apply and evaluate cutting-edge methodologies including foundation models, agentic AI, generative patient models, time-series modelling, Bayesian inference, and causal inference.
• Drive data-centric AI practices: acquire, curate, and quality-control datasets for model training and evaluation.
• Contribute to development of AI evaluation and benchmarking frameworks for clinical and regulatory settings.
• Engage with internal data science communities and external scientific forums; contribute to publications and conference presentations.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to Senior Data Scientists and peers.
