Job summary

Northland Power Inc. is seeking an Asset Manager for its Spanish projects. The role leads Asset Management activities across operations, coordinating technical, commercial, and strategic functions to ensure reliability and alignment with business objectives.

You will manage reporting to shareholders, lenders and authorities, while supporting risk management and continuous improvement. The position is based in Madrid with occasional site visits and a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Significant experience in a similar role managing power generation assets.
  • Project management experience.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of Asset Management activities for the Spanish assets.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across technical, commercial, and strategic functions.
  • Monitor operational metrics and support risk and opportunity management.
  • Lead and support a team responsible for Performance, Contract & Claims, and Risk Management.
  • Maintain Asset Management processes, systems, training materials, and reporting for the operational phase.
  • Prepare, compile, and align daily, weekly, monthly, and annual Asset Management reports for stakeholders.
  • Be based in the Madrid office and perform site visits as required.

The Asset Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all Asset Management activities Northland’s Spanish projects during the operational phase. This role acts as a central interface across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that revenue streams, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements are met while maintaining operational efficiency and reliability. The role will be required to work in the Madrid office four days per week with one flexible day to work from home.

What You’ll Do:

Take overall ownership of Asset Management activities for the Spanish assets in operations, ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment with business objectives. Act as the central coordination point across technical, commercial, and strategic functions, monitoring key operational metrics and supporting risk and opportunity management. Provide clear insights and recommendations to support informed decision‑making by Senior Management. Lead and support a team responsible for Performance Management, Contract and Claims Management, and Risk Management, fostering effective collaboration and delivery. Maintain and continuously improve Asset Management processes, systems, training materials, and reporting requirements for the operational phase.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Manage all Asset Management‑related reporting to shareholder(s), lenders, authorities, and other key stakeholders, ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent communication on operational performance, risks, obligations, and key developments. Ensure alignment between internal stakeholders and O&M contractors on Asset Management priorities, operational requirements, and emerging issues, acting as a bridge between senior management and operational teams to translate strategic objectives into practical delivery. Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure Asset Management requirements are embedded in operational processes, procedures, governance routines, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operational phase. Oversee contractor and stakeholder activities to ensure compliance with relevant contractual and regulatory frameworks, including PPA, SMAs, authority requirements, claims management, and warranty obligations and coordinate with Site Managers on contract renewal proposals. Monitor, analyse, and report on the technical and commercial performance of the sites, identifying trends, deviations, risks, and improvement opportunities to support reliable and efficient operations. Support business planning, budgeting, and strategic project development by providing Asset Management insights, performance data, operational assumptions, and recommendations for short‑, medium‑, and long‑term planning. Lead Risk and Opportunity Management processes, including the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting of risks and opportunities, while providing relevant input to OPEX planning and budgeting. Support mergers and acquisitions processes/new development opportunities. Lead the upgrade of energy production plants to meet new regulatory market requirements and evaluate and optimize asset performance throughout their lifecycle. Prepare, compile, and align daily, weekly, monthly, and annual Asset Management reports for internal and external audiences, including lenders, authorities, board members, and other governance bodies, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy across all reporting deliverables. Be based in the Northland Power Madrid office and perform site visits as required.

Experience & Education:
  • Bachelors or masters degree in Engineering or Business Administration
