Job summary

RWS invites AI conversation recording contributors to join a Catalan speech data collection project. This freelance, remote role offers flexible, task-based work with roughly 2–4 hours daily and an immediate start.

You will record natural speech, annotate data, and provide metadata for evaluation of speech recognition and conversational AI systems. Strong Catalan fluency and good English readability are required, with careful attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Catalan.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation is an advantage, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording

This short project offers an opportunity to evaluate and improve speech recognition and conversational AI technologies by providing spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations.

How Your Recordings Will Be Used

The collected recordings, annotations, and related metadata will be used to evaluate the spontaneous speech capabilities of speech-enabled AI models. The compiled data may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets used for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.
