Boortmalt in the Madrid region is seeking an Accountant to ensure accurate AP/AR processing, maintain vendor and customer records, and support cash flow management in a global group.

Based in Villaverde (near Madrid), the role requires English and Spanish, working onsite with one day home office; you will contribute to month-end closing and audits while aligning with GAAP and company controls.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 1-5 years of AP/AR accounting experience.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficient in MS Excel; ERP experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Monitor and process incoming payments for AR; reconcile discrepancies.
• Assist month-end closing and provide cash flow inputs.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and VAT/local tax rules.

BOORTMALT is a global malting company with a 3 million tonnes production capacity. The group is present on 5 continents with 27 malting plants. Boortmalt's expertise is widely acknowledged by brewers, distillers, and food industries, who rely on the supply of top-quality barley malts.

The Boortmalt Group is a fully owned subsidiary of the agricultural and agribusiness cooperative Axereal. Our relationship with Axereal, Europe's largest grain cooperative, ensures us access to high-quality barley year-round.

Main Tasks

Our new accountant ensures accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions. Your role supports financial operations by maintaining vendor and customer records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and contributing to efficient cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor payment schedules and support cash flow planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal approval workflows and tax regulations.

Accounts Receivable

• Monitor and process incoming payments.

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Assist in month-end closing activities related to A/P and A/R.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits.
• Provide input for cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure adherence to company policies, VAT rules, and local accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audits with relevant documentation.

Skills and Qualifications / Master we are looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-5 years of experience in AP/AR accounting
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or MS Dynamics preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Being able to deal with the complexity of an international company (frequent collaboration with the Belgian entity).
• Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
• Fluent in Spanish and English (main language in the team).
• Company is located in Villaverde (near Madrid) and onsite presence is required (1 day home office)
