IOSCO seeks an Accountant to support the Finance Department and accelerate its digital transformation. Based in Madrid, you will contribute to accounting, invoicing, payroll, treasury, and audits within a multilingual, international setting.

You will work under the Head of Finance and participate in cross-functional finance activities, including documentation, tax compliance, and internal/external audits, in a flexible hybrid model.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within multinational or international organisations.
• Solid working knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC) and IFRS with dual-framework reporting.

Responsabilidades

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping in the ERP system, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Coordinate with Head of finance to ensure integrity and traceability of financial documentation in the Cloud and ERP.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and verify ledger balances against bank statements.
• Monitor accounts payable cycles, review travel expenses, and ensure timely payments.
• Oversee tax declarations (modelo 111-190-345) in coordination with finance and external advisers; support audits.

The Role and responsibilities

The IOSCO General Secretariat is seeking an Accountant to support the work of the Finance Department to help accelerate the department’s digital transformation.

Reporting to the Head of Finance primarily and under the overall supervision of the Head of Operations, the selected candidate will strengthen the Finance department of the Organization, and contribute to the organisation's ongoing development in the face of new challenges posed by a rapidly changing environment.

The Finance Department team covers work across several critical areas, including:

• Accounting;
• Invoicing;
• Payroll;
• Treasury;
• Compliance and Controlling;
• Internal and External Audit.

The tasks assigned to the successful candidate would typically include:

• Performing day-to-day bookkeeping activities within the ERP system, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. Following Spanish GAAP and with IFRS knowledge.
• Documentation and Data integrity: In coordination with the Head of finance ensure integrity and traceability of all financial documentation in the Cloud and shared folders as well as maintaining the ERP workflow and cost centers.
• Cash Flow & Treasury: Performance of periodic bank reconciliations to verify that ledger balances match with bank statements, and to confirm that all recorded payments are matched to their corresponding invoice.
• Accounts Payable: Monitor accounts payable cycles, review travel expenses claims and settlements ensuring compliance with internal policies and timely payment processes and creating reporting models.
• Tax, Compliance and Audit: Oversee the preparation and submission of tax declarations (modelo 111-190-345) in coordination with the Head of finance and the external advisers. Assisting in the preparation and coordination of internal, external, and client audits.
• Any other tasks that might be required from time to time by the Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Head of Operations and the Head of Finance.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field is required.
• A Master's degree or postgraduate specialisation in Accounting or Finance is highly valued.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a multinational or international organisation.
• Solid working knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC) and IFRS, with experience in dual-framework reporting.
• Proven track record of contributing to or leading digital transformation projects in a finance context.
• Experience with audit coordination, statutory reporting and tax compliance in Spain.

Technical Skills

• Demonstrated hands-on expertise with a cloud based ERP like Sage or SAP.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, financial modelling and data analysis.
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) and/or process automation tools (Power Automate) is a strong advantage.

Languages

• Spanish: Native or full professional proficiency (mandatory).
• English: High professional proficiency, both written and spoken (mandatory).
• High level of analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Summary of conditions of employment

• Competitive salary and benefits package: the salary will be comprised within the range 40-50K EUR year gross, depending on experience and seniority, complemented by a private pension contribution of 10% of the gross salary.

• Salaries are subject to income tax (IRPF) only for Spanish nationals or non-Spaniards residing in Spain at the time of recruitment. In all other cases, they are exempt from Spanish income tax.
