With small class sizes, a strong focus on technology integration, and an emphasis on well-rounded student development, we support our students in achieving their academic and personal best.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and qualified A-Level Psychology Teacher to join our academic team on a temporary, full-time contract, with an anticipated start date between November and December 2026 and continuing until the end of the 2026/27 academic year in June 2027.

The role includes approximately 20 teaching hours per week, alongside mentoring, pastoral, and co-curricular responsibilities. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting the academic, personal, and social development of our Sixth Form students, using an engaging, evidence-based, and technology-enhanced approach to teaching and learning.

Experience or accreditation as a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) would be highly desirable, particularly given our commitment to providing individualised support and ensuring that all students can access the curriculum effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Curriculum: Plan and deliver engaging, academically rigorous A-Level Psychology lessons aligned with the relevant examination board specifications, incorporating research, real-world applications, technology, and a range of learning resources.

  • Student Progress: Monitor individual student performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate strategies to maximise academic progress and attainment.
  • Student Mentorship: Participate in our Mentoring Programme, supporting a selected group of students with their academic development, personal growth, organisation, and future aspirations.
  • Additional Learning Needs: Contribute to the identification and support of students with additional educational needs and work collaboratively with colleagues to promote inclusive teaching practices. Candidates with SENCO experience or accreditation may take a more active role in this area.
  • Co-Curricular Involvement: Lead or support student clubs, societies, or other enrichment opportunities, helping students explore Psychology-related pathways, university options, and future careers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching and pastoral colleagues to promote a supportive, respectful, and academically ambitious school environment while upholding the core values of Virtus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is preferred.

  • Experience using digital teaching tools and interactive teaching methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to inspiring, mentoring, and supporting Sixth Form students.
  • SENCO qualification, accreditation, or relevant experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is highly desirable.
  • Contract Type: Temporary, full-time contract.
  • Expected Start Date: Between November and December 2026.
  • Contract End Date: End of the 2026/27 academic year (June 2027).
  • Teaching Commitment: Approximately 20 teaching hours per week, alongside mentoring, pastoral, and co-curricular responsibilities.
