4-year PhD position in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning – ERC Advanced Grant HIDTECH (Barcelona)
We are looking for a motivated PhD candidate with a background in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related quantitative fields to join the ERC Advanced Grant HIDTECH – Revealing Hidden Innovations: Gendered Work and Perishable Technologies in Prehistory at IMF-CSIC, Barcelona.
The PhD will develop and apply AI/ML methods to quantitative 3D surface texture data obtained by confocal microscopy, with the aim of identifying how prehistoric tools were used and reconstructing technologies that rarely survive archaeologically.
This is an opportunity to develop expertise at the intersection of AI, 3D imaging, surface metrology and archaeology, working within an international and highly interdisciplinary ERC project.
Candidates should be eligible for enrolment in a PhD programme and registered as residents in Catalonia.
