Embat is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their Finance Team in Madrid. This role requires strong accounting fundamentals in a fast-paced scale-up environment where operational efficiency is key.

You will manage daily accounting operations, support automation initiatives, and collaborate closely with financial teams. The ideal candidate has a degree in business or finance and 2-5 years of relevant experience, plus advanced Excel skills and a proactive attitude.

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance Team in Madrid.

This is not a “traditional accounting” role. We are looking for someone hands‑on, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced scale-up environment where deadlines are real and the volume of operations is high. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability of our financial data while helping us build scalable accounting processes for the next stage of Embat’s growth.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a proactive mindset, someone who anticipates issues before they escape, thrives under pressure, and constantly looks for smarter and faster ways of working.

What will you do?

Manage day-to-day accounting operations in a high-growth fintech environment.

Support the automation of supplier invoice processes.

Perform daily bank reconciliations using Embat.

Support monthly closing activities and ensure accounting accuracy.

Manage accounts payable operations.

Assist in the preparation of periodic tax filings.

Support the preparation of documentation for annual audits.

Detect accounting inconsistencies and resolve issues proactively before escalation.

Collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability.

Continuously identify opportunities to improve and optimize accounting processes.

Objectives

3 Months:

Become fully autonomous in day-to-day accounting operations and reconciliation processes.

Understand Embat’s accounting workflows, tools, and reporting structure.

Contribute actively to monthly closings with high attention to detail and accuracy.

6 Months:

Own key operational accounting processes independently.

Improve efficiency in reconciliation and invoice management workflows.

Become a reliable point of contact for operational accounting topics within the Finance team.

12 Months:

Help strengthen and scale Embat’s accounting foundations as the company grows internationally.

Drive meaningful process improvements and automation initiatives.

Contribute to building a highly efficient and scalable finance operation.

Who are we looking for?

2–5 years of experience in accounting, finance operations, or similar roles.

Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related fields.

Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle.

Technical & Analytical Skills

Experience with bank reconciliations and accounts payable/accounts receivable management.

Experience working with ERP or accounting software; Business Central is a plus.

Advanced Excel skills.

Comfortable working with incomplete information and in fast-changing environments.
