Job summary

BioInnovation Institute (BII) seeks a Principal to join the Human Health team in Århus, focusing on therapeutics, to help turn research into fundable startups and establish a strong regional presence.

You will collaborate with the Copenhagen team, scout early-stage innovations, and support academics and founders on their journey from lab to fundable company. The role offers autonomy and cross-location collaboration across BII’s hubs.

Qualifications

• MSc, PhD or MD relevant to therapeutics; an MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in life sciences commercialization, e.g. at a VC/investor, startup, accelerator or TTO.
• Experience maturing translational, early-stage therapeutics projects towards spin-out and investment.
• Ability to evaluate therapeutics innovation from scientific, technical and commercial perspectives.
• Demonstrated ability to build networks within the Danish and wider Scandinavian/EU ecosystem, Århus experience a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication and presentation in English.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships to establish BII's regional presence in Århus/Jutland and engage with local stakeholders.
• Drive day-to-day activities to set up BII's Århus premises with local colleagues.
• Identify early-stage innovations and conduct due diligence across therapeutics modalities and indications.
• Support startups and spin-out projects through incubation programs from application to milestones.
• Map landscape for gaps and trends relevant to BII's Human Health mission.
• Establish partnerships across the innovation ecosystem with corporates, investors and public funders.
• Represent BII at conferences and networks; mentor colleagues and optimize processes.
