Job summary

DTU Management invites applications for a senior technical manager to lead the Observatory for Technological Questions in Society (ECHOlab). Qualifications

Experience in tool building for digital methods, controversy mapping, computational social science. We are looking for an experienced technical manager to manage and develop the technical infrastructure of the Observatory for Technological Questions in Society. The observatory has taken on a 2-year strategic development project in collaboration with the central communications department at DTU to map public debates about technology in Denmark and help support the participation of DTU’s research and expertise in those debates. You will be collaborating with researchers in the observatory to build the technical platform for this project and develop continuous controversy mapping as a research agenda.

Primary areas of responsibility

• Organize and lead technical operations in the observatory
• Coordinate work with the central communications department on strategic development project
• Develop and maintain technical infrastructure for continuous analysis and visualization of societal debate about technology

Our expectations of you

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a technical manager from computational social science / digital methods labs, especially supporting interdisciplinary research collaborations with an STS component, and have deep expertise in the following technical areas.

Technical areas

• Large language models and natural language processing
• Visualization of unstructured data (text) and exploratory data visualization
• Open-source tool development

Salary and appointment terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). In addition, supplements can be negotiated in accordance with DTU’s salary structure for academic staff employed in technical-administrative positions at DTU (AC TAP): www.inside.dtu.dk/en/human-resources/during-employment/salary/salary-structures . You are employed as an Senior Officer. The position is a 2-year full-time position. Starting date is 1 September 2026 (or according to mutual agreement). The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
