Job description

Student Assistant in Administration and Laboratory Work

The Plant-PATH Center of Excellence at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG), Aarhus University, is looking for a student assistant to support the Centre’s research activities.

The position combines predominantly administrative support with some practical work in the laboratory. Tasks may include assisting with the day-to-day coordination and organisation of activities at the Centre, including supporting the center coordinator with administrative tasks, as well as some laboratory tasks related to the Centre’s research as needed.

The position is a fixed-term, hourly paid student assistant position of approximately 5 hours per week.

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a 8,5 month position from 15 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term position to end on 30 June 2027.

Tasks

As a Student Assistant at the Plant-PATH Center of Excellence, you will have the opportunity to contribute to both the administrative activities and the research environment of an international centre at Aarhus University. The position offers a varied combination of office-based tasks and hands-on laboratory work, providing insight into how a research centre operates and how scientific research is carried out.

Your primary tasks will include:

  • Providing administrative support for the day-to-day activities of the Plant-PATH Center
  • Assisting with practical organisation and coordination of Centre activities
  • Supporting researchers with routine laboratory tasks and other practical work
  • Contributing to a well-organised and supportive working environment for the Centre's researchers

All tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with members of the Plant-PATH research groups and the Centre Coordinator.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated and reliable student who is interested in gaining experience in both research support and the day-to-day activities of an international research centre.

We expect that you:

  • Are enrolled as a student, preferably within the natural sciences or a related field
  • Have an interest in laboratory work and are comfortable working in a laboratory environment
  • Are organised, responsible and able to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Have a structured and flexible approach to both administrative and practical tasks
  • Experience with research communication and website maintenance (Typo3) is an advantage
  • Are able to collaborate effectively with researchers and colleagues from different backgrounds
  • Have good written and oral communication skills in both Danish and English

Plant-PATH – Center for Active Transport of Plant Hormones – is a Danish National Research Foundation Center of Excellence based at Aarhus University. We unite leading groups in Denmark, Belgium, and Germany in an international and collaborative research environment, offering excellent opportunities for training, exchange, and scientific development.

We are hosted by the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, within the central campus of Aarhus University, comprising a vibrant research and education environment. Formalities and salary range

Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark/State (HK/Stat) for clerical staff, laboratory technicians and IT employees and the joint collective agreement concluded between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees - Denmark - Danish State Sector (the OAO-S joint collective agreement).

You must be enrolled as a student and provide documentation of enrollment at a higher education institution.
