Job description

Strategy Manager at a PE-backed European Leader

Join a strong Group Strategy & Business Development team working directly with STARK's executive leadership and private equity owners on high-impact strategic priorities across Europe.

At STARK Group, a leading B2B distribution platform of building materials with EUR 7.8bn sales and around 1,000 branches across the Nordics, Germany, Austria and the UK, strategy plays a central role in our continued growth journey.

As our next Strategy Manager, you will be involved in critical initiatives across value creation, performance acceleration, AI, M&A and large-scale transformation.

You will work closely with executive management and CVC on some of STARK Group's most important strategic, commercial and transformation priorities, gaining hands‑on experience while helping shape the future direction of the business.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Strategy Manager to join our Group Strategy & Business Development team and help deliver on an ambitious strategic agenda. Reporting to the EVP, Group Chief Strategy Officer, you will take part in driving strategy processes from start to finish, supporting high-priority initiatives and working closely with executive management as well as our private equity partner, CVC.

What You Will Be Working With
  • Driving end-to-end strategic work and supporting strategy update and review processes.
  • Building and following up on the group-wide strategy and initiative pipeline to help the business deliver on targets and business plans.
  • Working with local business units across countries to improve transparency around performance, value creation and key initiatives.
  • Supporting value creation initiatives and strategic priorities as STARK continues its next phase of development.
  • Exploring new strategic opportunities, including growth verticals and performance improvements.
  • Working with peers in the Group Strategy office on high-impact topics such as AI, sustainability, digitalisation and the continued advancement of our distribution platform.
  • Preparing clear, actionable recommendations for senior executives, the board and owners — and presenting them to senior stakeholders.
  • Engaging with and learning from experienced strategy professionals, including former management consultants and investment bankers, across STARK Group’s European Business Development community.

You will be based at our HQ in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, working in an agile and well-functioning central team of six people alongside top executives, former management consultants, and specialists. Expect about 10-20 travel days per year.

This is a role for someone who wants to develop through exposure to senior stakeholders, complex business challenges and an international operating model - while contributing to our purpose of building the future by helping others build theirs.

To thrive in this role, you will need
  • 4-6 years’ experience as strategy consultant in a top tier management consultancy or a relevant strategic role in a larger international company.
  • A strong academic background such as a master’s degree in Strategy, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field with top results.
  • Bonus points for work experience from the B2B distribution industry ideally with own stores and logistics setup or similar B2C business.
  • Fluency in a Nordic language and English (German is a plus).
  • The ability and motivation to balance analytical work in the “machine room” with discussions at senior executive level.

You are a structured problem-solver with a curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn while delivering real impact. You thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy working as part of a team, and bring a positive, pragmatic attitude - ideally with a good sense of humor.

What’s in it for you?

This is a high-impact role in a growing international company where strategy is closely linked to the direction of the business. You will get a steep and rewarding learning curve, gaining hands‑on experience across strategic, commercial and transformation topics while working closely with senior decision‑makers.

The role offers significant exposure to top management, experienced strategy professionals and an international business environment - making it a strong development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in strategy, business development, transformation or potentially broader leadership roles.

We offer a competitive salary and an attractive bonus scheme. You will also become part of a collaborative, down‑to‑earth environment where your input matters, and where we value both performance and work‑life balance.

We look forward to hearing from you!
