Job summary

Formalize is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the GRC Infrastructure team. You will be the technical anchor for our critical systems, leading end-to-end initiatives, mentoring engineers, and guiding architectural decisions.

You’ll work hands-on, shape scalable solutions, collaborate across engineering, product, and design, and drive improvements in observability and deployment as the company grows.

About the Role & Team

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our GRC Infrastructure (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) team. In this role, you aren’t just building features; you are the technical anchor for our most critical systems. You’ll work fully hands‑on, designing scalable systems, mentoring others and guiding engineering decisions. While not having managerial responsibilities, you'll lead through technical excellence, collaboration and cross‑team impact.

This role starts at 79,000 DKK per month and can grow up to 89,000 DKK as you develop. You’ll be part of our structured career framework, which includes regular development talks. What you will do

• Lead complex technical projects end-to-end, ensuring our platform direction remains flexible, secure, and high-performance when handling structural department-wide requirements.

• Take full ownership of critical product components and modules that serve as the scalable foundation of our entire platform.

• Act as a key technical sparring partner, providing high-level direction during deep architectural discussions and helping unblock engineers across the organisation.

• Raise the bar for engineering quality and performance through reference implementations and by defining ever-evolving code standards.

• Collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Design to shape the solution to the problem and oversee technical implementations from end to end.

• Proactively resolve technical debt, identifying and driving improvements to observability, deployment flows, or best practices for testing.

What you bring

• Professional experience in a Software Engineering role, designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable systems in production.

• The ability to define technical direction for systems clearly and lead actively in deep architectural and software‑design sessions.

• Expert knowledge in at least one layer of our technical stack (we work with PHP and Angular), as well as general software architecture and system design.

• Direct experience with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and the ability to produce reliable, extensible, simple, and performant code.

• Good engineering practices and familiarity with driving improvements to deployment, observability, or testing.

• The ability to communicate technical trade‑offs clearly, provide valuable feedback and mentorship to senior colleagues, and increase engineer velocity.
