Job summary

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a Research Assistant (Staff Scientist) position in the research group of Professor Paolo Ceppi. The successful candidate will strengthen bioinformatics research and integrate computational analyses with experimental cancer biology.

Starting 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a duration of 1 year.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, cancer biology, or a related field.
• Postdoctoral research experience in molecular oncology or cancer-related research.
• Strong expertise in bioinformatics and computational analysis of biological datasets.
• Experience with transcriptomic data analysis and interpretation of molecular pathways.
• Knowledge of cancer metabolism and molecular mechanisms of cancer progression.
• Ability to conduct research independently and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated strong scientific publication record.
• Good communication skills and teaching interest.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative cancer biology research focusing on metabolism and tumor progression.
• Develop and apply bioinformatics and computational analyses for complex datasets (transcriptomics and other omics).
• Support integration of bioinformatics analyses with experimental research in the lab.
• Identify molecular pathways and regulatory networks involved in cancer progression and cellular plasticity.
• Contribute to publications, proposals, and grant applications.
• Contribute to teaching activities at the department (e.g., BMB835).
• Collaborate with researchers within the department and advance group science.
