Job summary

Shine, part of Cegid, is building Europe’s leading financial copilot for small businesses. We’re hiring a Product Manager to own the kernel accounting engine and the country extension strategy, collaborating with engineers, tax experts and country teams across Europe.

You’ll inherit an established team and report to the Director of Product, shaping contracts, data models and API surfaces. Fluency in English is essential and prior accounting product experience is highly valued.

The team

The Accounting Core Area builds the engine underneath all of it. Our mission is to build the single, correct accounting engine that turns structured business events into legally compliant entries, reports and exports for every market we operate in, without building it twice.

Building it once is the hard part, and it is why this role exists. Shine grew by consolidating platforms across Europe, and the Cegid merger brings a generation of legacy accounting tools with more than 10,000 accounting firms and their clients still running on them. All of it has to land on one kernel.

Your role

Your customers are internal. The Advisor Tribe, Pre-Accounting Area, ERP Tribe and every country extension depend on your model being right. Accountants and small business owners are the people we ultimately serve.

Be clear-eyed about what kind of team this is. There is no designer, and there are almost no screens. The surface is data models, contracts and APIs. Discovery happens with engineers, tax experts and the teams consuming your platform rather than in user interviews. If your best work happens in Figma, this is the wrong role. If you have opinions about correction versus reversal, you will enjoy it here.

You inherit an established team: an Engineering Manager, six engineers across Berlin and Poland, and multiple dedicated tax experts embedded in the team. You will report to the Director of Product.

Your responsibilities include:

• Define and document the kernel's entry model and contracts, and get the consuming teams to agree to them.

• Land the kernel and country extension split with engineering, including the migration path for what exists today.

• Generalise the French statutory foundations into market-agnostic abstractions that DE, NL and DK extend rather than reimplement.

• Prove the kernel can carry the legacy Cegid migration at volume, with the audit and period integrity that scale demands.

• Establish how VAT rates, charts of accounts and fiscal periods are configured per market once, instead of per team.

Job located in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen.

About you

There are two credible routes into this role, and we will hold the same bar behind both.

Either you have built one. You have owned a production double-entry engine or statutory accounting core and made the calls yourself on entry immutability, correction versus reversal, period locking, sub-ledger versus general ledger, multi-currency and event sourcing. You know which of those decisions you got wrong and why.

Or you know one. You come from accounting, audit or tax, you have since become a strong product manager, and your fluency in what a ledger must legally produce is genuinely exceptional rather than merely solid.

Beyond that, we are looking for:

• Platform product craft. You think in contracts, interfaces and versioning, and you are comfortable when your users are other engineering teams.

• The ability to make a product architectural decision with incomplete information, write down the reasoning, and defend it a year later.

• Experience influencing without authority across teams that do not report to you and do not share your priorities.

• Enough technical depth to be a real partner in design reviews, not a translator between engineering and the business.

• Fluent English.
