Hitachi Rail Denmark A/S is seeking a Solution Architect to shape the technical direction and implementation of ETCS Level 2 for Denmark’s rail network. You will collaborate across engineering, architecture, and project teams with Hitachi and partner organisations.

The role sits within the F-Bane Programme, focusing on upgrading signalling to digital solutions to improve safety, capacity, and reliability. English fluency is required, Danish is a plus, and a flexible hybrid office setup in

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in railway signalling and ETCS.
• 5+ years’ experience in railway operations and principles.
• Proven experience in a similar role (system design, complex systems architecture, project engineering, validation or operational safety).
• Ability to solve technical problems with analytical thinking, creativity and autonomy.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for collaborative work and technical management. You enjoy coordinating teams, are open-minded, and comfortable presenting to clients.
• Fluent in English; Danish is a plus.

Responsabilités

About the F-Bane Programme

The F-Bane Programme is a landmark project driven by Banedanmark, focused on upgrading Denmark’s railway network by introducing the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2. This modernisation effort is being delivered in the western part of the country by a Joint Venture between Hitachi Rail GTS Denmark and Strukton.

Our goal? Replace outdated analogue signalling systems with cutting-edge digital solutions - improving safety, increasing capacity, and enabling more reliable and punctual train service across Jutland. This is a key step in Denmark’s journey to becoming a global frontrunner in sustainable, intelligent rail transport.

About the Role & Our Team

As a Solution Architect, you’ll take a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and implementation of ETCS L2. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, system architecture, and project execution - collaborating with internal design teams, Hitachi subsidiaries, suppliers, and partners.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys connecting high-level strategy with practical implementation and thrives in a diverse, international environment where teamwork, structure, and creativity coexist.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in the delivery of Denmark’s next-generation digital rail network. Responsibilities include:

• Align Engineering requirements on the specific Railway signaling and ETCS Level 2 design
• Align the specific signaling design with the features delivered by the generic system in close collaboration with the generic solution architect
• Coordinating technical activities with all internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure alignment on the signaling and ETCS design.
• Maintain and review and adjust the engineering process for continuous improvement
• Creating and updating Rules and Guidelines that support solution architecture and design.
• Prepare Solutions for Change Requests and contributing to change impact analysis.
• Approving technical deliverables to the project management

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect with expertise in ETCS and railway signalling systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for delivering high-impact solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in railway signalling and ETCS.
• 5+ years’ experience in railway operations and principles
• Proven experience in a similar role (system design, complex systems architecture, project engineering, validation or operational safety) in the transportation sector or an equivalent field.
• Ability to solve technical problems and analytical thinking, while demonstrating creativity and autonomy in decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for collaborative work and technical management. You enjoy coordinating teams, are open-minded, and comfortable presenting to clients.
• Fluent in English; Danish is a plus
