Job description

Airborne self-protection systems rely on software prepared, configured, and analyzed before and after flight. The quality of this software directly influences how advanced defense systems perform in practice. In this role, you will help design, build, and improve the mission software behind it. Come and join us!

We are expanding and strengthening our capabilities in defense and aerospace, developing advanced mission-critical systems used on land, at sea, and in the air. As complexity increases, so does the need for robust, well-engineered software. This is part of Terma’s overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role in our team

As our new software Engineer, you will develop and maintain mission software with long service-lives, supporting configuration, analysis, and verification of airborne self-protection systems. Your work spans the full software lifecycle – from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and long-term evolution.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Systems Engineers, architects, testers, and domain specialists who represent product and user needs. Working in an agile and iterative way, you help qualify and challenge how solutions are implemented, bringing technical judgement and practical experience where it adds value, with a strong focus on correctness, traceability, and operational reliability.

You will become part of the Self Protection Mission software team within Terma’s Defense Air organization, working on mission-level systems used throughout the lifecycle of airborne operations. The team combines experienced engineers and early-career colleagues, with strong domain knowledge and a culture of mutual support, shared responsibility, and pride in the work. We approach our systems with professionalism and responsibility, while recognizing that thoughtful judgement, transparent dialogue, and a healthy sense of humor are essential to building resilient teams and robust software.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

You will work on software with clear requirements for correctness, stability, and traceability. Typical challenges include:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining C#-based mission software
  • Supporting configuration and analysis workflows used before and after flight
  • Working with domain-specific rules and system behavior rather than ad-hoc logic
  • Ensuring quality through structured testing, documentation, and compliance
  • Develop reliable software used in operational and mission-critical contexts
  • Take ownership appropriate to your experience, from understanding domain needs to seeing solutions deployed
  • Contribute to technical quality, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing

Our tool chain is pragmatic and proven rather than bleeding-edge. Modernization is an active focus area, supported by a deliberate effort to strengthen technical leadership across the organization.

Bring your world class expertise into play

You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Moreover, we are also looking for a new colleague with the following qualifications:

  • You hold a bachelor´s or Master´s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Experience with C# and the .NET application platform, and an interest in building robust, maintainable solutions
  • Willingness to broaden your skill set across areas such as DevOps, APIs, UX, testing, performance, and design practices
  • Experience working on complex systems, or an interest in growing into that space

As a person, you collaborate effectively with others and contribute positively to teams that share knowledge and take collective responsibility for complex systems. You are curious and confident in asking relevant questions, and you value open, honest dialogue. You take pride in delivering reliable solutions that work in practice and approach your work with sound judgement and professionalism. At the same time, you maintain a willingness to learn and bring a constructive attitude that supports strong collaboration and high-quality results.

Terma is an international high-tech company developing advanced systems for defense and security. We work with complex technologies in long-lived products and value technical depth, collaboration, and long-term responsibility.
