Job description

Are you an experienced structural or marine engineer who knows how to turn complex vessel or larger steel structure designs into safe, buildable solutions? This is a rare opportunity to take technical ownership of structural construction for modern naval vessels and help strengthen the future of the Danish naval industry.

Your position

Join Semco Maritime as Senior Structural Lead and take a central role in the construction of modern naval vessels for the Royal Danish Navy. Working at the interface between engineering, procurement, planning, suppliers, and shipyard production, you will translate structural designs and class requirements into practical construction strategies that support safe and efficient execution.

As the senior technical focal point for structural construction, you will influence key decisions from design maturity and production engineering through fabrication, assembly, and delivery. You will coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces, anticipate constructability and schedule risks, and help ensure that structural work is completed to the required quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

This is a visible, hands‑on leadership role with close proximity to production and real influence on how the vessels are built. Your primary workplace will be in Frederikshavn or alternatively Esbjerg. The position is full‑time, permanent, and occasional travel may be required.

Your tasks & responsibilities

As the Senior Structural Lead for structural construction, you will lead and coordinate the structural construction activities throughout the naval vessel production lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and planning the structural construction route from design to production.
  • Leading the production engineering process and providing technical support to procurement.
  • Serving as the technical point of contact for structural construction matters across departments and with suppliers.
  • Managing resources, supervising assembly, and ensuring adherence to quality, schedule, and HSE standards.
  • Supporting production planning to develop efficient and buildable solutions.
Your profile & qualifications

We are seeking a proactive and technically adept engineer who excels in a multidisciplinary environment and has a passion for shipbuilding and naval defence.

Ideal qualifications:
  • BSc or MSc in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in shipbuilding / ship construction. Alternative could be experience from large scale off‑shore construction and / or infrastructure sites or process facilities.
  • Familiarity with international classification rules (e.g., DNV, ABS); knowledge of naval or defence standards is highly beneficial.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and 3D models.
  • Fluency in English is required; Danish language skills are a significant advantage.
  • You should have a structured, quality‑focused approach with excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • High personal integrity and a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Able to obtain a FE security clearance
