Job summary

Formalize is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Copenhagen to join our Connect Team. You will own features end-to-end, participate in design reviews, and help shape integration patterns across engineering, product, and design teams.

You’ll mentor colleagues, onboard new engineers, and contribute to building high-quality, scalable systems. The role is office-first with visa support where needed, located near Kødbyen in central Copenhagen.

Qualifications

• Senior experience in a Software Engineering role, designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable systems in production, end-to-end.
• Demonstrated product development focus with quality, delivering features that move the product forward.
• Good engineering practices for testing, deployment, & observability.
• Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly and provide high-level feedback to colleagues.
• Experience with architecture decisions, coding standards, and evolving code quality.
• Comfort and initiative in leading and mentoring others in engineering best practices.

The Connect Team bridges Formalize with our customers' broader tech ecosystems. We build and maintain our public APIs, design complex integration patterns, and engineer event-driven, logic-heavy workflows for seamless data exchange.

In doing so, we turn Formalize from a standalone software service into foundational compliance infrastructure, making compliance effortless across any tech stack and driving our vision to become Europe’s leading GRC platform.

What you’ll bring:

• Although we see ourselves as tech-agnostic, you ideally bring experience in at least one layer of our technical stack (we work with PHP and Angular), as well as general software architecture and system design.

• Demonstrated senior experience in a Software Engineering role, designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable systems in production, end-to-end.

• Experience in product development with a focus on quality, balancing business needs against scope creep to build features that directly move the product forward.

• Good engineering practices for testing, deployment, & observability.

• The ability to communicate trade-offs clearly, providing high-level feedback to colleagues and participating effectively in technical discovery.

• The ability to raise the bar for engineering quality and performance through reference implementations and by defining ever-evolving code standards.

We offer you:

• A starting salary of 62,000 DKK per month. As you grow within this role, your compensation can grow with you up to 72,000 DKK per month.
