The opportunity
Unity’s commerce systems power the business infrastructure behind our developer ecosystem — from licensing and subscriptions to in‑editor purchases and platform integrations. At the heart of this architecture is commerce services: backend‑for‑frontend (BFF) services and integrations that encapsulates business logic and service orchestration for our commerce platform.
The Core Commerce Backend team plays a pivotal role in unifying frontend experiences with backend systems such as commercetools, user identity, entitlement services, and pricing logic.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to lead architecture and implementation efforts across Bridge’s Typescript‑based services. You’ll design reliable, scalable APIs and evolve our backend foundation to support a growing suite of commerce experiences.
What you’ll be doing
- As a Senior Backend Engineer you will be expected to be able to:
- Take a partially defined specification, understand the underlying requirement and problem and turn it into either a detailed specification for a less senior engineer or deliver the solution yourself.
- Work closely with business, IT partners (business analysts and project managers) and the integration team to understand and solve business problems.
- Design, implement and deliver highly scalable solutions based on modern cloud‑based architectures.
- Support, optimize and automate our internal processes.
- Take ownership of problems and find solutions.
What we’re looking for
- We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who:
- 5+ years as a backend microservice engineer
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing scalable and reliable microservices.
- Proficient in TypeScript, particularly for service‑layer development
- Experience in designing, implementing and executing unit tests
- Experience with some of the other technologies used by the team: SQL/NoSQL, queues, alerting
- Strong track record designing and implementing RESTful microservices
- Comfortable taking ownership of system design and architectural decisions
You might also have
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.)
- Experience deploying and operating services in Kubernetes
- Hands‑on Experience as administrator or integrator with any of Salesforce, Zuora, Commercetools or similar headless commerce platforms
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines like Github Actions
- Experience with automated testing
- Prior experience working with enterprise systems such as commerce, subscriptions, ERP, CRM or Supply Chain solutions.
